The units one is a good idea Aaagh, if you can stop at a couple of glasses. Others (like me:o) would prefer all or nothing. Some folks prefer not to have a target and just clock up as many days as they can.

I was wondering Aagh whether you have talked to your DP about your plans. My OH doesn't know anything about targets or anything just that I'm cutting down.

I'm still not sure whether to set a target at all. I am glad that I have been having AFD's, but don't want to beat myself up when I have a glass of wine.

DP does know I am cutting down, and that I am trying not to drink in the week. He doesn't usually pour me a glass now without asking first.

Hi Aaagh - I don't remember if you are a male or female but just thought I'd mention that govenment guidelines for a female per week is 14 and 21 for a male.:)

14 for me :). I have read that there are around 9/10 units in a bottle of wine, so 1 1/2 bottles for the week. I was drinking that most nights until I came on here. Maybe I'll get there one day, but to try and cut down to that for me would be like going on a crash diet. I know I wouldn't be able to keep it up for long and then I'd end up bingeing and go back to square one.

Morning everyone, well i've done my usual rubbish night's sleep, cat napped till 4.30 when i heard my youngest cry out with a nightmare, couldn't go back to sleep so i got up at 5.30 and been listing kids toys on ebay (a pre xmas clear out).

Scores on the doors are November 4 AF days and Dec Target 8 days

I thought November was ok seeing as I only started last Friday. I think Dec is quite achievable and hoping to do more. My DH also knows I'm cutting down, so I asked him to hide my fave drinks in his shed, i'll never find them in there. The benefits are two fold, out of sight out of mind, i can't drink until he gets home in the evening, so no more daytime sneaky ones.

I also thought on the days i do drink i'd go back to my half measure system, as i'm going to feel the effects quicker now i'm not drinking every day. By that i mean, measuring a unit and then having it over 2 drinks, so i'm having less with more, IYKWIM.

Good luck for today everyone, i'm hoping DH will be off today due to snow.

PLEASE PUT YOUR AFDs IN A BOLD RED FONT

Please could you put me down for 10 in November. Unemployed as of yesterday and I haven't managed any AFDs during these last few weeks so I want to change that.

    Shaggy thanks for scoring again.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
