December Target - 27 AFDs please Shaggy
Going for a full on 3 weeks again in a row with 2 work nights out or maybe just 1 night out if the weather is mega cold -10c predicted on Friday
Decided to rejoin the challenge for this month to keep me on track after a 22 AFD target achieved this month, including today and tomorrow and am AF nowfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Well done to everyone for their AFness! Mark and Sim your inspirational in the posts i've read today and to others who are in double figures....WOW!
I'm down and out for today in all directions, feel dissappointed with myself but strangely relieved as the pressure was building and i couldn't cope with it. It felt good to give in, but in know in the morning i'm going to be so annoyed with myself.
Maybe tomorrow. I was going to post my December target being 29 so only drinking Xmas eve, xmas day and new year's eve, but i think that's now unrealistic. I don't know what to set myself now. Or how to deal with things if i don't achieve it.
What did you do?Live for the moment and plan for the future0 -
Hi Cuppa. Don't worry. Tomorrows another chance and you've done SOOO well so far:T. Just posting back is great.
I'm not inspirational, just trying to change things around slowly, but regarding your Dec target, be completely realistic. Others here really are though.
As others have said, its much worse to set targets you can't achieve because you can then just give up.
How many AF days would you normally have in Dec? If its zero (like me:o), anything is a bonus. I knocked out anything from 24th onwards straight away. I knocked out Fri's and Sat's, and allowed for some bad days. I think 8 is do-able - for ME. And I'll be well pleased if I do it.
Its not a competition (well, maybe a bit sometimes:p) and everyone will support you whether you go for 31 or 1.
So, have a think, be honest and go for what you can. Each AF day is a tick. You'll feel better for hitting a small target than missing a big target, and you know you've missed a big target much sooner (meaning you may just give up).
Well, good luck. Time for tea...
Take care all.Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general0 -
Mark, thanks, a big thanks, you've hit the nail on the head, its all or nothing with me!
I'm going to join you on the 8 day challenge for Dec and if i achieve that, then that's 8 more days then Nov. I guess if i'm AF tomorrow, then that's 4 for Nov.
Hmmmmmm...........................I'm off now, been such a busy day and i've had enough.
Thanks everyone!Live for the moment and plan for the future0 -
Hi all,
Good to hear you are doing so well Sim.
Thanks for your encouraging posts Mark. I was really struggling to stay AF on Saturday and it really does help when someone says well done
Cuppa well done on what you have achieved so far and good luck for your target in December. It is not an easy month.
Clara -very well done :T
I will go for 10 in December please Shaggy and hope to do a bit better but I'd better be realistic!
Hope everyone is ok. We are forecast snow tonight so don't know if I will be going to work tomorrow or snowed in.
Hi and hugs to absent friends! Hope you are ok HB and Budgie.
DB x0 -
I haven't had an AFD since my last post. Was going to last night but DP poured a glass for me and then I had a couple of refills
.
He's working nights again now, so I've managed 1 AF tonight, and will try to tomorrow as well.
I'm not too sure what to do about December, as my main aim was to cut down. I do want to set a target but don't want to count AF days, as I want to allow myself to have one glass in the evening and not feel a failure. I will probably set myself a target of units for the week, but will exclude certain days that I know I will not be AF, and don't want to be i.e. Fridays and Saturdays, Christmas do and a couple of birthday parties.
I will have a look at the calendar and post with my December target later.0 -
OK, I've had a look at the calendar and I have my own target. You might not want to include it on here as it is a bit complicated, but I will be keeping note of it myself.
Heres what I've decided:
There are 13 days that will definitely not be AF. I will be limitting myself on these days but I don't want to include this in the target in case I go way over on any day and then blow it for the month.
I've decided to allow myself 2 units per day for the remaining 18 days, which will mean on some days I might have 5 but others I will be AF. Just to be on the safe side, I will go for 40 units over 18 days.0 -
I do hope no-one feels under pressure to have a target. The units one is a good idea Aaagh, if you can stop at a couple of glasses. Others (like me:o) would prefer all or nothing. Some folks prefer not to have a target and just clock up as many days as they can.
I was wondering Aagh whether you have talked to your DP about your plans. My OH doesn't know anything about targets or anything just that I'm cutting down. He still has a drink every night but he's sensible with it. I was fortunate that when I started off he was on a beer-drinking phase and I don't like it so it helped. Now he's back on the wine but it doesn't bother me any more (well not much;))
Glad to see you back sparkles. You must be well oop north if it's going to get that cold. Any polar bears where you are?
I'm going to go for the same as you in December DB, that's a 10 but hope to do better.
I've been AF tonight and :Tto everyone who's managed one too.
That's 11AF for November Shaggy and
1 for this week's challenge please Pen
and a target of 10 for December.
and a big thank you to you both for scoring for us:A0 -
Morning all,
Had a couple of drinks last night, had a bit of a scare and it happened at the wrong moment. Just pulled up outside the offy to buy electric (that was the only thing on my mind at the time) and was about to get out of the car when 2 blokes came up, one stood at the front and the other came to the driver door and tried to open it and started knocking on the window. I didn't look at them, just ignored them and got my phone out and text someone then rang OH while the bloke was still knocking (both dodgy looking with hoodies), said to OH, there's a bloke trying to get into the car while I'm sat in it, he said, oh drive off and go down to the other shop....... I mean, so sorry to have rung you and interupted your game of online poker while I'm potentially about to get mugged  plus that was the reason they positioned themselves there so I couldn't drive off!
Anyways, they eventually walked off although I could see them down the road at the bus stop so dashed in the shop quick and told the blokes in there, then went straight to the beer fridge, could hardly pay for the stuff I was shaking so much. The guy walked me to my car in case they came back.
So there we are, I'll be 2 off my target by the looks of it Shaggy. Plus Pen I had intended on joining your Mon-Thurs but boogered that up now.
So Shaggy, no change for me thanks
And Pen, could I join your challenge for a 3 night special please?
And my target for December will be 31
Thank you and good night.

Blimey Jo, that must have been terrifying. Thank goodness your doors were locked. Glad you're OK.
Shaggy 20 for me and target made. Thanks for scoring again, I am proferring a virtual scooby snack as thanks; Doesn't seem quite enough. Was going to duck out of December but as I've done every month this year, am not going to. So a challenging but achievable target of 15 for me please.
HS...nothing to see here...0
