Quick log in for me but just wanted to say 2AF days for me and first saturday night in i can't remember. Did find it extremely hard though, had lots and lots of cravings. I have so much extra stress in my life at the moment that its doubly difficult.

I feel quite tearful and emotional today and wanting to shout at the kids a lot. I am extremely tired as I don't sleep well and i feel everything is piling on top of me. Can't even say i'm PMT either!

    Oh well.......

I used booze partly to quiet the fear and anger that would be so loud in my head.
If I wasn't drinking, I could take it out on other (undeserving) people, and that made me feel even worse afterwards.

I find a huge part of my sobriety is learning to live with feeling uncomfortable, and it's not easy. I used to drink to take the feelings away.
I can only do it one day at a time.

Thank you everyone for your support and for words of advice, it means a lot. I guess I miss the dulling effect it gives me, i had never thought it about it in that way before.

As I mentioned before I haven't chosen the best time to do this as i have a lot of stressful things happening at the moment, but I could continue to find reasons and never do it.

My lack of sleep is also due to other reasons, so i can't entirely blame alcohol on that, but i hoped it would improve when I cut down, so we'll see tonight.

Today will be another AF one, albeit with me highly grumpy and emotional.

  • I really need to get back to AFness tonight. Drank more than I intended to this weekend and as a result am miserable and panicy today. What a rubbish waste of a Sunday.

So it's mug of tea time again here. Anyone want to join me on a Sunday Special challenge?
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

PenelopeDee, earlier on my resolve for today was quite strong and now part of me only wants to join you on a sunday special, I really want a drink NOW. I think if i start though, i'll have quite a few!

Kids are really driving me nuts and even OH has shouted at them, unlike him. They are picking up on our stresses. Just hoping in a few weeks this will settle down.

    Good luck Penelope

As tough as stressful situations are, drinking on them has only ever (after the initial relief has worn off a few hours later) ultimately made things worse for me.

Over the years, I've lost the love of my life to drink, countless jobs, nearly lost my home this year, and almost lost my sanity.

    Take it easy,

    Big Hugs,

    Sim x

Pen - count me in for the Sunday Special please. So far so good, but a little challenge will help make sure its tea tonight when I go to the kitchen....:)

All the best Cuppa. Just think, it could be 3 days AF.:j Still, you've got 2 done and even if you give in tonight, you can get another AF day tomorrow so don't worry.

Wise words Sim and I hope things are getting better for you.

Fingers crossed for everyone (and me!).

Thanks guys, Sim wise words indeed.

I decided to go to bed, i'm so unbelievably tired and i think its that i need over drink or dinner. I've already cleaned my teeth and alcohol doesn't taste great after that.

So after a wobbly two hours i'm 3 days AF.

Thanks for your support, its this thread that did it, if i hadn't been on here, i would have given in as i wouldn't be accountable to anyone!

Anyway, my reason for being on here is to seriously cut down not to give up. My aim is to only drink in social situations or if OH is having one and i fancy one, just no more drinking on my own everynight. I used to be like that without even thinking.

    Night all.
