Evening all
Nice to see some new and familiar faces - hope you're all good - I've not forgotten about everyone - just plodding along in my little way - one toe at a time - doing OK on the AF front but not getting much time to post.
Hope you're all good - anyone sticking a toe in for the first time - you're in a wonderful place. I use to drink every night, alot too - not any more - for the moment I'm pretty much AF - and if I do have a glass - its normally only one and not very often.
Hugs xx
Maman lovely post! hope you're feeling better - did I read in the diner that you have a cold?
Goodluck!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:

my advice would be to be realistic. You can always exceed a target if you're on a roll. There's always the chance that if you go too high you may just decide s*d it and go back to square one.
Really sound advice there. I joined the forum and thought I could be AF in the week for all of November, having been drinking every day for a number of years. I allowed for a couple of slip ups, but not enough. Although on the non-AF days I had cut down considerably, when I realised I wasn't going to reach my target I kind of gave up with it, and I'm kicking myself really.
I did think I might still do it, as long as I was AF on a Friday (tonight) but OH had an unexpected night off last night as his van wouldn't start, so we both ended up drinking and I'm not AF tonight either.
I don't drink to get drunk or indeed get drunk of a evening, but i have noticed I am drinking far far more than I should, my health is suffering and for the long term sake of my family i know its not safe.
Why can't i be normal, i'm secretly letting my husband and children down.
Welcome Cuppa. I'm not sure how old your children are, but for me, although I always knew it wasn't good for me, it was when my son (age 5) started commenting on it being unhealthy that I had the kick start I needed. I haven't drunk alcohol in front of him at home since joining this forum, and as he has decided that he has forgotten how to get to sleep it means it's usually after 10.00 pm before he's gone for the night.
Even if you just cut down a little, that will make a big difference. If you can manage a couple of AF days in a row, you will notice how much better you feel, especially in the mornings.0 -

Every AF day counts and what Aaagh said is 100% right that virtuous feeling when you wake up in the morning, un-hungovered is brilliant!!!
Its quite a virtuous feeling AF days isn't it. Why have i let alcohol take over so much?
What she said!!!
It's worth it!!!!
 fay. I've missed you on the thread but have been lurking on others (loved the swans on the loch). Yes, I've had a horrible cold but today I'm feeling so much better and hopefully seen off the worst of it. Thank you for your concern. I'm glad you're doing OK on the AF front. YM has gone of to Florida for his nuptuals (no wellies needed there:D). Expect you have plenty of snow in your neck of the woods. Take care.0 -
Good morning all!
Hello Fay! Nice to see you popping in.:) Hope you are staying warm up there!
Maman - glad you are feeling better. Thought my cold was going but seems to have come back again:( Nose streaming today...and I have to go and help make OH's cake this morning:(
Cuppa Tea - well done on the AF day :T
Up at 5.30 today with sore throat and streaming nose.:( But made good use of my time and have ordered all of OH's crimbo pressies via the internet!:D

A good morning to everyone and happy Saturday :j
Welcome Cuppatea you've found yourself in the right place here, plenty of honest support. Well done on your first AF evening. Don't worry if you didn't sleep too well. Your body needs to remember how to sleep naturally without the stuporing effect of alcohol.
Shaggy that's 18 for me now please. I'm so excited to be nearing my target for the month. It's been a long time since I managed one. Pen I did manage 3 days of the weekly challenge but reporting too late again. The thought of the challenge did help me recover from my blip on Wednesday.
Lots of housework to be done today plus I had a big clearout this week, eBay here I come!0 -
Morning everyone. We've got snow! Woohoo! Oh, but I've got 140 miles to drive:eek: and I had to slither to the supermarket 1 mile away - took 20 mins!
Still, looks lovely and with the sun as well, its a great morning here.
Well, I just popped in to say "hi" better get the spade, flask of tea and warm clothes for the trip. Could be a long one.....
Cuppa - I hope you're enjoying the clear head this morning (and the sense of acheivement!):D
Oh, and I'm going to make sure my Dec target is realistic - thanks for the advice maman.
Have a good day all.Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general0 -

Wow Jo what a fantastic achievement.... :j:j:j
Morning everyone....not been on here for ages but I am a bit snowed in at the moment & just trying to get the motivation to go & clear my drive.....:o:o am really kicking myself as I nearly bought a snow shovel yeaterday but decided that £6.99 could be better saved elsewhere.....oh well the exercise will do me good I guess.
Still amazed that this will be my 2nd Christmas of AF-ness...time has gone so quickly but I seem to have found so many more hours in the day to really live life to the full:j
I may not post that much on here anymore but I do pop in for a read & hope you can all stay strong.
