Morning! Another bad night in this house, this time a rude awakening at 4am by a 4yr old and neither of us have been back to sleep since. He's not done that to us since he was a baby so hoping its not the start of a "new phase".

I was AF until 10pm last night, I went out in the snow to collect the washing from my parents house (long story) and when I returned DH had poured me a baileys and himself a whiskey saying it was the weather for it. I couldn't refuse, especially as he'd put ice in it so couldn't put it back in the bottle!!

Anyway after that we had a cuppa and went to bed.

In my head i reckon that's still a success albeit not AF totally, as i wasn't drinking on my own and 1 didn't lead to another.

Cutting down and moderation, i think if i deprive myself totally i'll end up binging on it at some point. Anyway the schloer stuff is really helping when i get my 5-6pm craving, mixed with tonic in a wine glass it a great substitute. Actually that sounds really awful, but i hope you get my drift.

Not planning on drinking this evening. But i'm wondering rather than counting days, whether i'm best of counting units like someone else on here and stick to 14 a week? Is it 2-3 units for women and 3-4 for men or have i got that wrong? With at least 2 days a week AF?

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I have a spreadsheet where I record my AFDs and my units. I've been doing this for over a year and it's interesting what this shows me. I've discovered that for me the summer is sometimes worse for drinking than December! That was a complete revelation! As well as monitoring my AFDs I also try to make sure my average units per week stays below 14. :D

Hi Shaggy. 1 for December. Managed to borrow a little heater from a friend so I have one warm room (temp was 9 degrees inside before switched it on) and I'm out all day so it's quite bearable. Bobble hats indoors! Haven't succumbed to the warming temptation of a hot toddy yet...mind you it's only 7.25am :)

Morning all. We'll im upset to say that my planned AF Wednesday didn't happen :o That's because I didn't set a challenge (and I'm weak)! Still, a minor success was that I went onto tea after one drink when normally I would have thought "s*d it" and carried on until bedtime. :o Maybe my mind set is changing a little - I actually WANTED a tea not a beer!

Pen - could I join you for a one day Thursday challange please?

Fingers crossed as it's definately the weather for mulled wine and the GLW keeps asking when I'm going to make some.....:(
Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general :p
  • Morning all!

HS - eeek to having no boiler!!!! Hope you aren't too chilly.

Markman - don't beat yourself up over one beer. You're aiming for cutting down aren't you? Well, establishing a different relationship with alcohol is part of that. having one beer, enjoying it and then stopping is a major achievement in my eyes!:)

Shaggy - 1 for me please
Pen - 3 on the challenge for me please!

Well it was snowing quite well when I took Piglet to school this morning but has now stopped. They are off on a trip to a little local theatre today to see something about Santa Claus...he's all excited :D

Was tempted to open a bottle of wine last night - Piglet was being a right little b*gger and was driving me to distraction. Got through the bells though, thank god.

Take care all of you that have to go out in the weather today (including myself in that as have to go to Argos!!)

    Miss P
    xx
