  • I love this thread! But what do I do if I'm a whisky taster by profession?
  • Hi all, it's long time since I posted here but it's good to see familiar faces still here. It's inspiring to see some of the stories here (including Jo, what can I say - it sounds like it has all finally made sense for you). Hugs to all cutters downers and stoppers.

My sig is still correct, and there are no bells now. Still need to guard against absentmindedness though! It may have taken me decades to get to this point, just wish I'd managed years ago as it is definitely right for me.

Have a good day, sun shining here at least for now.

    Thanks for the link.

    Sadly a very common story.

  • Hello everyone,

Sorry i've not posted for a few days. Mixture of drinking and being very busy, LOL.

Please put me down for 4 AFD's please! :j

I think I've finally had a proper diagnosis for my bad cough and awful chest pain. I went to A&E on sunday, as I'd had enough of the pain -the GP has been lame, as I've been back every week for a month, with only my tonsillitis cured. The hospital were amazing I have to say. Due to chest pain, they had me in within 15 mins, ECG done, painkillers given for my chest pain, nebulisers given due to my shortness of breath and a chest X-ray done. Blimey! And the doctor and the nurses were sooo nice - I was a wuss and was crying!!

Basically, my right lung lining (pleuric) is inflamed and irritated which is what has been giving me so much pain. It's due to an infection, so I am on yet more antibiotics and have tramadol for the pain. Things seem to be improving already, so fingers crossed. Why the GP didnt send me for a chest X-ray 2 weeks ago,I have no idea. Anyway, its sorted now, which is the main thing.

Been fine on the drinking front over the last few days, as pain/tramadol and alcohol just don't mix, LOL!

Miss P - So glad you are back!!!! YEah!!

Apart from that, I haven't gone through previous posts over the last few days, so I will do that now, so sorry if I have missed anything epic!

    Hugs and love to all

  • The remedy is simple, but by no means easy. Stopping drinking and staying stopped is bloody hard.
It's a deadly illness that not only kills people, but also destroys families and friendships.
Dying of alcoholism is very undignified.

Cravings are not silly - they are deadly.

My marriage has ended due to my drinking. There are other factors too, but the alcohol is number 1 in the grand scheme of things. I like to think it's because we grew apart, we didn't have sex, we didn't do stuff together. But that is largely due to my alcoholism. I've admitted it to myself now, but I would never admit it to my ex, despite her protests about my drinking. There are other things, but I am quite sure that my drinking fuelled other problems. I didn't like to admit it before now, but alcohol ruined my marriage. Totally ruined it. Not at first, as she got drunk with me and we had a fine old time. But the last 5 years or so, she decided she didn't want to drink and that';s where the differences appeared. I was never a horrible drunk but I was a drunk and that's what she had a problem with. This is a destructive and horrid illness.

    Evening all

Cazza - glad you've been sorted out (in a manner of speaking!!:rotfl:). Sometimes GP's really drag thier heels. I remember my OH went to his one loads of times before I forced him to the walk in centre. They admitted him straight away and did surgery within 12 hours. Grrrr! This was when Piglet was a newborn but I'm still angry when I think about it!!

Jo - just caught up on the last few pages of the thread. I'm really sorry I've been incommunicado (big word for me at this time of day!). I wish you'd let me know whats happening. Know you don't want hugs so you can have a :EasterBuninstead.

Off to cook Piglets tea. Catch up later
