What has his wife got to do with anything? Is the contract under her name?

Vodafone are not giving her any 'crap' - they are sticking to the terms of the contract.
  • Maybe if they let my son out of prison for the day he could sort it out ummm no they wont do that, urm maybe Vodaphone could phone him in prison no that dont happen ,maybe he could phone vodaphone from prison no only allowed 2 numbers unfortunately vodaphone aint one of them.
So when Vodaphone phone the only number they have for him who picks up the phone NO NOT HIM guess who (did you want a minute or 2 to think about it).
There opening line could we speak to Mr

If I try that maybe you could try writing in coherent sentences.

Not liking the answers you get does not make them unconstructive.

And talking of answers, if you want help, why don't you give us some. Why are you still talking about his wife not being able to afford to pay? She has nothing to do with it unless the contract is in her name (which it appears it isn't as Vodafone are asking for your son). She can not cancel it - end of disucssion. Your son can still write to Vodafone can't he?

I appreciate that the subject is close to your heart with it being your son, but do you seriously think everyones debts and responsibilities should be written off when they go to prison?

Why do you think Vodafone should write this debt off?
  • when it comes up with vodaphone don't answer the call, send in a recorded letter with proof he is in prison and they will understand why they can't get hold of him, but I do think he will have to pay it up. His best bet, especially if it is not a long sentence, is to let it be until he gets out and then phone them and try and catch up on repayments, maybe sell the phone that he got with the contract to help pay some of the money off and then wait until he comes out for him to pay the rest as i've had many dealings with trying to disconnect, even at the end of my contracts, and it is really difficult so if he is in contract there will be no way out of it as thats why they give you a phone because the rental is part towards the phone and the rest towards the calls and texts

So reading this, he wants to cancel the phone and yet seemingly Mrs has got it switched on and using it? (according to the above transcript, they rang her on it)

If someone rang me with this kind of attitude, I too would probably stick to the letter of the contract.

If on the other hand they dropped the attitude (since another poster quite rightly said, it is not Vodafone's fault his son is doing time) I might do something like drop the tariff right down to the lowest possible so it ticks along until he comes out.

    Choice is yours.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j
  • and as his wife is strugling to get any money from the goverment(prob is she was born in the UK)

Yes, this country is such a soft touch for foreigners, isn't it? I bet you won't be complaining when your son gets out having only completed half of his sentence, though, will you?

    Take your racist remarks elsewhere.

If you take the trouble to read back you will see that my son has written to Vodaphone from prison ,which at this moment they have chosen to ignore .The contract is not in her name the phone is not in use ,but because they have no way of hounding my son they are hounding her.If she had £200 then i feal she would pay to get them off her back .You keep saying it is nothing to do with his wife and i keep saying she is the one getting the phone calls from Vodaphone who dont seem to care about his circumstanses.
We realise he has an obligation to pay not the issue the issue is how ,he has no money, she has no money ,and we cant raise £200 next you will ask what as it got to do with us .
  • can't you sell the phone and use that to pay the money off as depending on what the phone is some are worth a fair bit even second hand

Yes i do believe that this country is a soft touch for foreigners, who put nothing in but expect to take everything out ,i dont say that of all of them just the ones i know,if that means i am racist (which i dont think i am) as i have payed my taxes every week so they can get there NHS,dental and eye care free that doesnt bother me .Have a north African live near me 5 kids rent payed, kids schooled doesnt intend to work drives a 4 year old BMW ,does it bother me not a jot. What does bother me is my daughter in law has been 6 weeks without money with nothing on the horizon.
Would complain even less if he did not have to serve any time inside .

Have tried the normal rout doesnt work with Vodaphone. And no the phone is switched off not in use all calls now come on home phone .If that was possible to lower the tarif then we could try to find a way ,but Voda are adament it is full tarif or £200 do not want to compramise so stuck between a rock and a hard place.
