i did not say kill. electricity has and is used for behavioral training on many animals including dogs, cows horses, and humans

in some countries the indiginous population really prize cats n they taste like chickei am sure you would feel different if a dog was making a mess on your doorstep
You mentioned using a flammable liquid....and added on that you would use an electric fence.

It 'suggests' a certain desire to me. If that isnt the case, then fair enough.

As for feeling annoyed with a dog.....most people would be annoyed if a dog was fouling their doorstep for several reasons.

Dogs should not be out without their owner.
Dogs should be always on a lead in public.
    Dogs are easy to train.
    etc

None of those points can be attributed to a cat as cats are not controllable.

I would never think about setting any live animal on fire, your thoughts are in a bad place. It is the smell of turps that persuades the cat to move on.

As a responsible parent or pet owner, you have ..... responsibilities, or one could be the asbo neighbour? Your child breaks a window, or dog cräps on the pavement, or bites someone then the owner is responsible. The dog or child at the time often had no foresight. Cat owners can't knowingly say we can't train cats yet still have them and hve a do not care what damage they do attitude, but then claim to be responsible cat owners? As soon as you take control or ownership of anything, there is more often than not responsibility.

Surely that neighbour works hard in his garden, then this cat comes along and ruins days worth of work, treats the garden as a litter box, and you wonder why he get upset with the asbo 'we can't train cats' attitude and 'tough luck'. The cat owner owns the cat food and owns the cat, so the cräp must be the owners too. Surely the owner should go there (or pay to have it done) and fix the messed up items and pick up the cräp, like responsible dog owner do. It is not a cat problem, but an owner problem!

I bet if that cats shät golden nuggets, their owners would be around to the neighbours in a flash.

Perhaps the neighbour should pick up the cat, place it in a box, take it to the RSPCA, so the cat can find a more responsible owner?
  • If the neighbour is THAT concerned about your cats getting into their garden - they can get spike strips designed for just that. We have them in our garden to try to keep our 2 bengals IN! Although the bloomin' strips don't seem to stop next doors cats coming into our garden...! It does annoy me a bit as obviously it upsets our ones and one is becoming quite a regular because we have IMO the nicest garden for cats so unfortunately it entices them from afar! There's nothing that can be done though, I would never say anything to my neighbours unless one actually came in and started beating mine up regularily - but then mine are Bengals so I imagine they'd beat the other cat up pretty badly first ;)

I see no reason as to why you can't have 5 cats. You can have as many pets as you like. On my 'estate' though unfortunately its brand new and one of the rules is to only have 1 pet - well I've already got 2 cats as do many others so that's rubbish!

  • We no longer have a cat, but we did at our last home. On one occasion a neighbour complained about Jimmy scratching about in her flower beds. I did try explaining that this was pretty much beyond my control, but it was falling on deaf ears so I said 'Okay, you put a sign up saying 'no cats' and I'll teach him to read'.
