neighbours dont want our cats in their garden

We built an enclosure in our last house and it wasn't expensive, just some posts and chicken wire. Cats got fresh air/grass but had boundaries which they were happy to stick to. It was not due to neighbours but due to a busy road and my desire to protect them.
Perhaps this might be an option rather than keeping them in? Unsure how the garden is laid out though so might be difficult.
My two cats are now house cats and are very contented with their lot.:jMini Coops arrived 2011:j0 -
Cats by their very nature will do as they please. They are very difficult to "control" as you suggest !!!!!!. I also would doubt you could consider them feral as the majority would be collared or microchipped and registered as pets. But you couldn't tell that just by looking at them.
But I am no expert.
There are plenty of deterent on the market and I am sure that the cats protection league or RSPCA would offer solutions if it was required.
Not sure how you think you should deal with feral cats? I know what they do up here and it's give them to farmers as mousers.
Wouldn't want to end up on Youtube like the "bin lady" did now would we!!!:jMini Coops arrived 2011:j0 -
My neighbour has 5 cats too and a corner of my front drive is used as their poo station. I have covered all bare soil beds with gravel but this has not stopped them.
I can see it being a smelly and unpleasant problem in a vegetable patch and also my dog seems to find cat poo tasty
Like has been said, cats will roam and explore and you cannot restrict them. Your neighbours have no proof that it is YOUR cats causing this problem. If the neighbours feel that strongly about stopping the cats visiting their garden then they could use repellant of some sort (my mum swears by chilli powder ) or even block off the veg patch with netting of some sort.0 -
Of course pet owners are responsible for their pets but the world of cats is a wee bit different to that of dogs. Laws were made in regard to the controlling of dogs but they weren't with cats. Ever wondered why ?
Because they taste like chicken?
(according to Sharkie)
Maybe I can solve my cat problem with a post in Old Style!0 -

This is a responsible cat owner, creating options not just throwing them out for everyone else to deal with :T0 -

Wow, that's an awful lot of cats!!!!!!!
Two is fine for me, they keep each other amused the majority of the time and I wouldn't fit any more on my knee at night!!!
I can totally appreciate that not all cats "behave" as we would like and that can't be fun for those who are on the receiving end.:jMini Coops arrived 2011:j0 -

they keep cats away by making a noise they dislike. I cannot hear it but some people say they can.
My neighbours bought one of those, the next day there was a cat lying right underneath it.0
