Ah yes. The old classic "he doesn't agree with me so he must be bitter" argument.

Hardly as I'm quite happy to listen to anyones point of view as I can generally see both sides but if you want to think like that fine, go ahead.

    I also have cat problems.

some of the neighbours cats were cr*pping under my windowsill and the smell was a bit overpowering.

After sprinkling some terps around they seem to have found other places to go.

If they come back, perhaps a little electric fence will get laid there.

    Hi OP

I have 2 cats and have always tried my best to get on with neighbours, I have found it doesnt take much to show that you care about the situation. .. and by doing so it often stops things escalating!

I love my cats to bits but appreciate that not everyone feels the same!

I have in the past bought cat repellant pellets and given them to my neighbours for their grass....expensive but a small price to pay for peace!

Perhaps you could buy a cheap water gun and offer it to her? 99p shop! This is a great cat repellant and harmless !

Or go round with a bag of orange/lemon peel as a peace offering?

You might find that once you approach her and show that you are willing to help she may be less troubled by them, and your cats may get to enjoy outdoors and your neighbour will too!

best of luck in finding a workable solution

  • Might not even be your cats that the woman is wailing about. Damage limitation with the landlord might be to say, for example, 'there's this elderly lady nearby who seems quite upset and thinks that my cats are in her garden. I'd do something about it, but when she told me, they were all locked indoors, so I think the ones that are bothering her come from somewhere else. I thought I'd better tell you, rather than pretend it's not happening'.

Failing that, a catnip plant in your garden will keep most of them home, especially with say, a trellis around the top of the fence, just to make it a bit too much like hard work when there's kitty drugs to be had for free :D

And probably all the other cats in the area, but that's not your fault :D
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

What a nasty, cruel thing to do!!

You might be annoyed about your neighbours cats but the cat doesnt know that does it?

Why would someone cause severe pain and kill a cat in such a way just because they are fed up with them doing what comes naturally!!????

    Cruel!

In all my many years of cat ownership, I've never seen one scratch a car...

OP, buy your neighbour a water pistol. Your cats will soon cotton on and give her a wide berth.

Neighbour's 'orrible cats use the gravel in my front garden as a litter tray. Cat repellant does not work, simples, I have discovered this. Does anyone have any idea for something that DOES actually work??

What's with the turps, does that repel them or what? Can't see that would be any better than bought cat repellant, soon as it rains it woudl be gone
  • I had this problem with a neighbour, who even went as far as recording the times my cat went in his garden. I phoned the Cats Protection League and they sent me some info on how independent cats are, which I posted through his door. He suggested I removed them from his garden each time I saw them there and i realised after this that there was no hope, so politely told him to stick it!

  • I'd rather live next door to a crazy cat lady than a miserable old hag with nothing better to do than whinge because there's a cat in her garden.
  • Tell ur neighbour to buy a big dog with sharp teeth who is also a fast runner :rotfl: That'll keep the cats away.
Be happy, it's the greatest wealth :)
