whats the capitals all about?
whats studying got to do with discounts? my mate is studying for his degree via the open university and he has to pay for that along with his council tax, transport books etc etc.
So students have more expenses than people workng - BOOKS then as everyone has travelling expenses and if they live in halls and get ripped off then that was their choice too. People that live in university towns are ripped off with housing too due to amount a private landlord gets for their house split into student rooms hiking all the prices up.
Students choose to go to uni so therefore it is totally a choice of there own if they want to borrow to do it. Lets face it if I wanted to train as a plasterer or driving instructor or gas fitter etc etc etc I would need to pay for that training so why shouldn't students pay for there degree?
Also i'm not talking about student NIGHTS in clubs i'm talking about pubs and clubs only allowing students in ANY night of the week (apart from the holidays.
Remember I've been hanging round with students for over 15 years now so I know that students aint that skint.0 -
i have just been given a free card at night school from https://www.studentdiscounts.co.uk it says that you can buy it online for £5
Does anyone else have one of these and have they used t anywhere successfully?? Just im also studying through the OU and so was going to get my £10 OU associate NUS card...Not sure now though...0 -
Your mate can get an Associate Card which means he should get all the same discounts as non-OU students according to the NUS Websiteianian99 wrote:my mate is studying for his degree via the open university and he has to pay for that along with his council tax, transport books etc etc.

Pay £10 for an NUS extra card and after 2 weeks it's still not available.... Hmmm. I think they've messed up everything. They should have left it as it was before.0

he'd still have to pay council tax0 -
Apparently the NUS extra card was voted in last year by students at uni so it was the student choice here.
The SU bar is also bringing in a two-tier pricing system so if you have this extra card, you get 15% off, whereas the Democracy card only gets you entry to the building. Will be lots of unhappy people here. Already heard some complaining last week.Little man arrived 13 Dec 20120 -
