Well first of all just to apologise if this sort of thing has been raised elsewhere in this forum....
However I know we have quite a few coupon mad people here!
Well anyway what me and my fiance do is we use a selection of vouchers every time we go shopping and then we add up how much we have saved by using the vouchers (plus anything saved on reduced items or BOGOF's) and however much we saved we simply put into a box.
We have only been living together for a few months and are finding it a little hard so basically that will be a nice treat for us come Christmas!
Also all copper is saved in a jar as coppers are never missed but mount up soooooooooo quickly, and 5p pieces are also saved seperately.
But basically regarding my first point, it's money you would have spent anyway, so by putting it to one side you are not missing it and you'll be amazed how much you will have by Christmas! What a lovely surprise!
And now I am off to ponder the thoughts of remortgaging already and perhaps changing over our insurance policies to someone cheaper!

Hi,
When i first started my new job, i began collecting 1 pound coins in a smartie tube, then i would tape up the ends. After a month or two i needed to buy some new stuff, opened the tubes and found that they held over 40 pounds in each tube!!
Still doing it to this day. you dont seem to miss a pound or two here and there but you are damn happy with the "free money" you have saved when you count up!!!!

The best present I ever got (so far...) was last Xmas. My brother and his GF bought me a Terramundi money pot.
Now, when I feel I can afford it, I put one or two pounds in and it's getting quite heavy!
The idea of the pot is that you make a wish on a slip of paper, put it in the pot, fill the pot with money (it will take £200 in silver) and when it is full you smash it, buy a new pot and spend the rest of the money on something nice. Then supposedly your wish will come true.
It sounds a bit harsh smashing it, but at least you've had something nice to look at for a while!!
You can buy them from http://www.terramundi.co.uk.

Father Christmas got me one of those money boxes like a tin of beans where you have to open them with a tin opener to get the money out. Im saving 2 pound coins in it and its about 1/3 full. My husband and I also save 50p's and below. I agree that its a great way of saving money whilst not missing it at the same time. Its surprising how quickly it all mounts up too#39 - Save £12k in 20250

I had one of those tins and saved 20p in it
when we opened it we had enough for 12 months car tax ;DI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Great idea. Have never thought about doing that before.0 -

I've been doing the same since I started using MSE about 3 months ago and found out about the vouchers. So far I've got £185 put away in an old purse and that's just with using the vouchers. It' amazing how it grows. Our nearest Tesco is 10 miles away and Asda 21 but worth making the trip to.If I had known then what I know now . . .
