It's statements like that that really gives Royal Mail a bad name without much in the way of factual evidence, "more regular than you can imagine", what proof could you possibly give to this? Unbelievable.0 -

When I send something SD, I 'imagine' it gets signed for by the recipient. I guess most people imagine the same.
So, if some postmen do sign themselves, I think the comment is fair.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

BECAUSE I AM A POSTIE!!! It's not just a statement detrimental to Royal Mail mate, it's a fact.I'm back after a break :money:0 -
Hmm, If the parcel cost under £32 then i'd claim on RM's insurance - you haven't recieved th parcel, it's not the responsibility of the seller, he did his bit - i once had mail stolen by a postman - lots of it - i didn't make a claim but i did make a huge complaint and it was found that he had been stealing mail - often at busy times, Rm take on relief posties - they could be anyone - one of my neigbours used to be a postie and he was found by the police with loads of opened mail in his house - ok, he claimed that his 2 year old daughter had opened it and she probably had but at the end of the day it was stolen.
Anyway i'd fill in a compensation from available from all post offices - you have to leave it 15 days after expected delivery - but as you know it's been delivered i'd fill in the form now and send it off.
I'd ask RM to investigate fully and demand that they reimburse you - thing is, the parcel hasn't been delivered has it? well it has but not to you - i'd be asking Rm to prove that they delivered it to the right place too - they were respinsible, you paid for that service and you didn't get any service.
I'd refuse signed for again - if Rm delivers and you are out, they should take it to the nearest post office for you to collect - loads easier and much safer.
I don't even use post bxes anymore, i take everything to the post office, that way i feel much happier that it will be delivered.
I am just wondering if trading standards might be able to help if RM keep on fobbing you.

Unfortunately a straight claim will be turned down as the RM records will show it has been delivered. Recorded does not require the named person to sign for it. This is a huge drawback for recorded and another reason why I do not use it, at least with a standard item the RM cannot prove it has been delivered so will usually refund, here they will argue they have a signature so that's the end of it.
A standard claim for loss can only be made by the sender anyway, and as far as they are concerned it has been delivered.
All the OP can do is make a complaint, find out where to address your letter and send it in to the Royal mail . Send it recorded (I know I know it's daft) as a surprising amount of post cannot be found if you phone the RM to see what is happening with your complaint. Send a copy of the letter to PostWatch (or whatever they are called) and keep on at them. It is unlikely to have much effect frankly, I found Post Watch less than helpful but when I had major problems after a whole batch of my outward items went missing a couple of years back I did finally get an additional £10 compensation from the RM as they admitted they had identified a problem within their sorting office.

If you are a postman, why has your delivery office manager not been informed that this is going on in your area - by you or whoever? The vast majority of people that I know at Royal Mail do their job correctly, day in, day out. It's the minority of people - either by lack of training, or are too bone idle to be bothered taking their registereds or packets back to the delivery office at the end of a shift, or leave packets on doorsteps etc that cause a problem that tars us all. I am also a postman and its people like that who cause a problem for the rest of us.
I got absolutely soaked today and had an unsigned special with me, but there's no way in this world i would've signed for it and posted it through just so i could save some time by going home.
If everyone did their job properly or people were reported who didn't do, complaints would decrease dramatically.
I take pride in my job, just wish everyone else did.0 -
My postie leaves Special Delivery stuff on my doorstep - He has left 2 £500 limited edition silver bracelets on my doorstep at different times! My Recorded Delivery stuff is always put through the door if I am out and he leaves the ticket on. Any dishonest person would claim it has not been delivered. And on occassions when I am in and he can't be bothered to knock. We are not saying all posties are the same but it does happen. I have reported the fact my Post goes missing (loads go missing at Xmas) with the Post Office and they have a 'so what' attitude and tell me to claim and can't be bothered.0

Same with my Postman. I can't remember the last time I had to sign for a recorded item. He even leaves parcels on my doorstep when I'm in the house - he doesn't even bother to ring the doorbell.0
