Royal mail help

Hi, I bought something and after a week contacted the seller to say that I still hadn't recieved it. He sent me a special delivery tracking number. When I checked on the royal mail website it says that the item was posted on the 25 and delivered on the 26th september and was signed for by 'I. STOTT' at 11:15. I get all my ebay stuff delivered to my work. My work is a big warehouse with a huge sign across the front thats impossible to miss. Theres 8 people work there non of whom are 'I. STOTT' i have no idead who this is. i've checked with everyone at work and no one knows anything about my package.
The seller did his part and has proof he sent it, it was delivered and signed for.
The royal mail say they delivered it and they only deliver to an address not to the specific person so they're saying they've done there bit.
I have no idea how they've managed it but they must of delivered it to the wrong place.
Is there anything I can do?

Does it show on the site the area it was delivered in? Could he have sent you the wrong tracking number? My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I would contact the royal mail again and keep at them, get a supervisor or something. Double check all the detials including the delivery address not just who has signed. They have all the details and I know my local office can tell what postman delivered- so should theres. I would tell them that you have not recieved the item and believe it has never been delivered and that fraudulance is invloved. I know some postman, and not tarnishing them all, do sign items as delivered when they are not .Or that you office was not opened so they delivered next door- hence why know one knows about it- make sure the post office confirm all the details with you .0

Definately get more details and hopefully this will clarify the situation - Royal Mail does have its issues doesn't it.There is no need to run outside

on the tracking information it has my works name and address so he has definatly sent the parcel to the correct place and sent me the right tracking number. I'll keep on at the royal mail on monday see if they can shed anymore light as to where they actually delivered it to but so far they haven't been very much use or help.0

There is an alternative explanation but it is an uncomfortable one. Postie finds someone at work to sign package, 'someone' signs for it with a false name and walks away with it. This is one reason why I am always very wary of using work addresses for buyers.
If the work address is the address shown on your paypal account then it is likely (but not guaranteed) that paypal will side with the seller as he can properly prove that it has been delivered. Recorded does not require the person to whom the parcel is addressed to sign for it, so Royal mail are in the clear unless anyone can prove fraud. That rather leaves you chasing around trying to resolve this.

It was sent via Special Delivery, not recorded
that means they should only deliver to that person, so it's RM's fault. 0 -
No Special Delivery does not mean that it will be delivered to a named person I'm afraid. The PO require a signature at the delivery address but anyone there can sign.
This is from Special Delivery terms and Conditions on https://www.royalmail.com
Confirmation of delivery
Signature will be obtained on delivery of Item from the recipient but not necessarily the addressee. In the event that no-one is available to receive a Special Delivery item a card will be left providing the customer with the option to have the item delivered at a later date. The attempted delivery shall constitute delivery for purposes of our guarantee.0 -
Oh but when we were out and got a "while you were away" card once, I phoned to get delivery at my nan's address, they said no so I said what if she comes over to our house then they said no to that too

Is the warehouse you work at on an industrial estate?
If so Special Deliveries are normally delivered by Royal Mail Van drivers, they tend to have a very large number of Special Deliveries and unless if it was a 'relief' Driver it should be easy to track who delivered the item(s).
As it has been mentioned, a fellow worker could have signed any name, and the delivery is to the address only, the name is secondary.
It would have been better to have the item delivered to your home address, you being at work, and the item would be 'slip left' and you could pick it up from your local delivery office.
Do you have any video cameras at your work? As this is a case of theft, in one form or another, could these not be viewed?
Also is there no system at your work place that only one person signs for 'Goods Inward'? This would the narrow your problem from 8 to 1
Keep plugging away at Royal Mail, and get them to give you more information.0 -
Lets not forget that Posties have been known to sign for SD themselves. Sorry but it does happen and more regular that you can imagineI'm back after a break :money:0
