Now that would be an interesting thread - what evidence persuades you, or not, that there is a god(s).0 -

Truth is, Hell won't be a wild party, you will be alone and in torment, unable to communicate with anyone , burning hot and with an unquenchable thirst and for all eternity will be falling into a bottomless pit, check out what the Bible says about the place. You can avoid it though, please study God's Word to see what it says and then Repent and Trust in the Saviour. I don't want you to go to hell, please reconsider, tonight God may run out of patience with you and then it will be too late!
I thank you for your concern for my immortal soul.
The trouble is ........ I don't believe I have an immortal soul (I wish i did, so I could sell it to the devil for lots of wonga) so no amount of preaching will work here0 -

However, as the quote goes:

All we have to look forward to in this life is struggle, pain, old age and most likely uncomfortable death. No amount of hedonism will ease the pain of living. This probably explains the tortuous increase in the number of teenage suicides, as an increasing number of our young believe the secular world's atheistic ideas. They decide to end it prematurely and save themselves the trouble of facing an bleak future.
Post hoc ergo propter hoc.
Instead, of relying on the answer of "God", the secular world realised the need for real answers. Science, research and ars medicina are the reason we still exist today. So in some ways you are right, if everybody gave up on their secular ways and accepted "God" as the answer to everything and anything - teenage suicide would be wiped out along with us.0 -

In the UK conflict in the family, abuse, divorce, drunkeness and violence on the streets, alcohol and many other addictions, a multi-billion dollar !!!!!! industry that fuels people traffiking and the abuse of children and relentless drive from various minority causes to impose their will at the expense of the framework of society sowing confusion in men and women who lack appreciation of their true purpose in life. This is the world that people living in a middle class, white, suburban bubble have such limited experience of.
The liberal intelligencia have been banking on scientific research making God obsolete since the beginning of the 17th Century enlightenment and still He continues to pursue us in Love. Is it not intriguing that so many eminent scientists believe in who Jesus Christ said He was and that He did what He said He came to do; isn't it intriguing that rational, sensible, free thinking neighbours choose to follow and Love a humble Galilian blue collar worker who lived 2000 years ago, 2000 miles from here?
There have been men before who have claimed to be gods, there have been many who claimed to be prophets who are now dead; many generations have tried many different religions but none have had the profound effect on human history that Jesus Christ has had, because none have risen from the dead to conquer sin death and hell and give us hope for the life to come. He offers you a reason to live and to love. He offers the truth and wisdom to examine the world, to exploit scientific research, to seek justice for the poor, abused and enslaved. He offers you the chance to love your spouse how he or she deserves to be loved as His image bearer, made in His image and likeness with dignity, value and true worth. Have a great day.0 -
Yo007Mo, your cut and paste about science in the Quran, shows how easily confused people can be and how holy books are good at closing minds. The 'science' included in Quran was all known to the ancient Greeks.
For fairness you should have included a cut and paste of all the contradictions in the Quran. Luckily, I have done it for you.
'What was man created from, blood, clay, dust, or nothing?
"Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood," (96:2).
"We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape, (15:26).
"The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: "Be". And he was," (3:59).
"But does not man call to mind that We created him before out of nothing?" (19:67, Yusuf Ali). Also, 52:35).
"He has created man from a sperm-drop; and behold this same (man) becomes an open disputer! (16:4).'

Mr Quin, if you go to Google and type in the following, you will hopefully find an answer to the above.

.. the abuse of children ? hmmm,... there's been a lot of discussion about this subject in the news lately ...
and it is certainly wrong for anybody to impose their will on others!
Of course we also have to remember that Mankind is over two MILLION years old ... and christianity only two thousand
There are many groups who regard themselves as being 'christian' and many atrocities have been committed in it's name
It's such a shame, how many live their lives telling others to do as they say ... but not necessarily as they do
So many lives lost and destroyed in the name of 'religion'
So I still believe that Primum non nocere, is the mantra we should all aspire to ...
and if mankind can't stop destroying itself and all other life on the planet,...
then 'religion' is even more irrelevantThe object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane — Marcus Aurelius0 -
I did just take a look. It seems to be just fancy semantics. The problem is that the answer promotes more questions. Half way down it states "And Allah created all living things from water", but living things are not made from water, they may contain water, but they are not made from it. We are made from a lot of things, such as carbon.
The Quran is a newer holy book than the other popular ones and it was written long after the Ancient Greeks had observed things and their was trade between Greece and the islamic world so it is not a surprise that information was passed along.
I really doubt there is a god and holy books tend to be so full of errors and confusion that they appear to be man-made books. I see them, and I have read a fair amount of the Bible and read books about the Quran from muslim writers, as just historical documents."Mr. Quin smiled, and a stained glass panel behind him invested him for just a moment in a motley garment of coloured light..."0
