Also what area would say Luton or Bedford be in.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • I'm a band D and it said I was band A.
    Bump due 22nd September
  • I'm in band C and it said band D... so think I'll keep my trap shut! Having checked the neighbours' properties the only similar-sized one is also C, so seems to be right.
  • We are in Band C (which starts with value at 52k) We bought the house in July 1999 for 51k and using the calculator puts it in Band B. All our neighbours are also Band C.

Anyway, just spoke to our local Valuation Office and they will "investigate". Apparently should take less than 8 weeks to do. It would be LOVELY if they decided to re-band to B and I guess not the end of the world if it stays at C.

I'll let you all know what happens!!
Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional :j
  • It told me I should be in band A (I'm actually in band C). Interestingly I already knew this as I had checked it all out using the old tools (this new one seems to work well in a similar way) and written to my council accordingly, but despite the fact I live in a tiny 1 bed flat they decided I was in the right band already. Trying hard not to feel cross as I pay the same as friends in a better location in a 2 bed maisonette. Go figure!
  • I'm having a look at council tax bands in my street. I'm in Wales however and I can see that your calculator doesn't seem to cover Wales. - Unless I've completely missed a trick.

I realise that Wales have done some revaluations but I don't see any harm in trying on this one!!!! Can you either - include Wales in the calculator OR give some advice as to which other area of the UK may have had similar house price growth so that I can use that area to check the houses in my street. (I'm rather hoping that I can show that a whole number of houses are banded too high - but I want to be fairly sure of my facts before I start.)

I'd be very grateful for any assistance on this.
