Band G for me which is what I pay unfortunately.0

nope, didn't work for me, i actually bought this home in sept 1991 and it's saying i should be in band A but was in band C for many years, even though the neighbours were band B. years, and i mean 10 years or more later (after ex-hubby and i split up) they wrote to me to tell me i had been misbanded and should have been band B all along... which I had told them from the beginning...
sad end to this sad tale is the bill was in my ex husbands name so he got all the refund!!!0 -
I'm with Libra1 - doesn't go back far enough. We bought in 1973.0

Which co-incidently, will also be your house price in 2012....
Haha! +1 Fantastic. I hope bloody not as I bought last month but heh, you never know! Made me chuckle anyway so WD :j
Incidentally, I came out as B but we pay A. This, I'm sure, is because the house is ex local authority. I think there should be some option to enter additional information as this really is a blunt tool.I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -
It says our flat is Band G, but it's actually two lower than that....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Gave me the correct Band C. Although I've only been paying Band C for a couple of months as for years I was in Band B then they realised I was the only house in the street in that band so probably was wrong.0

It put us in the middle of band D when we're actually in E (along with the entire street of similar houses). That was based on a recent sale, and gave the same results when I used the price the previous owner paid in 2002. It might be that we overpaid!, but I suspect the reason is that our house was built in 1990 and newbuilds always seem to be bumped up a band.0

Hi lincroft.
I think this is because there was house price deflation for a few years after 1991, so if you put a sale date in 1993ish, then the 1991 price will actually be higher
Let me know if you think this is wrong and I will look further into it
Dan
The 1991 price should be quite a bit higher than 1993, from my experience (ex VOA) about 20 to 25%.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
