  • It calculated band B for me, I'm in band A.

    Worked ok for me.
  • Bought for £47,000 in 1989 which converts to £36,590 in 1991 after the crash and band A, which is about right.

The trouble comes when you convert back from the £147,000 I sold it for in 2007 which converts back to £46,217 and band B.

I didn't do much to the property apart from double-glazing and redecorating, so maybe I just got lucky and chose an up and coming area?

The calculator worked for me too. I only moved here 6 months ago so it was useful (via the link) to check out the neighbours houses. We are all at band D.

I've still gone on to challenge it with the valuation office though. I moved from a more expensive area but same size house as this yet the previous house was a band c.

    fingers crossed.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j
  • Yep worked fine, 250k in 2007 & 68-80K in 1991, banding correct
  • I put in the price I paid in 2003 for my property and it took me back to 1991 into the correct band. However if I try to get the current value to calculate into the correct band, it assumes my current house price is much more than I know I could realistically sell it for (about 50k too high!) I am in Scotland if that helps.

Is it just me or is the Area Scotland a little vague?
I live in Aberdeen and I can guarantee that a house in the middle of no-where half way up a mountain will have had a slightly different price increase variation. The new method has put us in Band F, when I used the old guide on here said E, where we currently are.
House prices here have doubled in the last 10 years in places but it says from 1991 to 2000 the properties only rose 25%. Seems a little mixed up.

  • It worked for me.
  • Calculated D for me, and we're in E.... anyone know of a case of challenging it going wrong?
I wouldn't want to end up worse off!

The 3 properties I tried in London came out correct. Probably because there are identical properties nearby that sold in the past 2 years.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
