Please help MSE test NEW tool: Find your house price in 1991

Hi folks,
To help make our Council Tax Rebanding guide more comprehensive, we have rejigged the Nationwide House Price calcualtor that we currently recommend using, and made our own using its data.
The point is to be able to find out an estimate of your houses value in 1991 - when properties were valued for Council tax bandings - and what band you are in, to give you an idea of whether you have been overpaying.
If anyone has time, it would be great to get some testing of the tool itself - and see if you find any glitches. Here is the link:

Thanks folks,
Dan

Worked well for me thanks, calculated I'm in the right band.2010 Comp wins: Lamaze baby toy, Cushelle koala, Frusli bars, knitted monkey, nursery rhyme DVD
Christmas sorted for my LO (apart from Frusli bars - they're mine!)0 -
Strangely doesn't work on the sum paid by a local landlord on his latest addition to his property portfolio. But paying 18% over asking price is never a good idea just to outbid an OO.0

Not a glitch as such but the icons that say 'step 1' and 'step 2' are covering some of the text.0

Also worked well for me and calculated I'm in the correct band. Very helpful!0

Worked correctly for me.0

Worked for me too.
Just gutting to know that we fall into a higher band because the flat was £561 over the band in 1991!

Had a play with calculator and it seems to work fine.
However, not sure I agree with the following logic....
"Find the most recent sale price of a similar property to yours in your street. Now note down both the PRICE and the DATE OF SALE and use it to work out what your house would've been worth in 1991 as that’s what council tax bands depend on. "
Unless I am missing something, the sale price that will yield the most accurate result would be one as close to 1991 as possible, rather than the most recent one.0 -
Gives too low a value for low price sales in 1993 - 95.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Hi lincroft.
I think this is because there was house price deflation for a few years after 1991, so if you put a sale date in 1993ish, then the 1991 price will actually be higher
Let me know if you think this is wrong and I will look further into it
