I think I have said before that different assessors have access to different surveys. The longer you work for Optimum Contact on a regular basis, the more chance you will have of being offered other surveys, with a greater chance to earn more.

The number of surveys done each day depends very much on what surveys you are doing; for some surveys almost everyone agrees to do the survey but for other surveys the hit rate can be quite low. So, 10-20 surveys/day is typical but I know of some people who regularly do more than 20 per day.

Looks like I'll be putting the hours in then. Hopefully, I'll then be offered some more surveys, with a better hit rate!

I've done 8 surveys today (while making 64 calls..Yikes). Was aiming for at least 10, but annoyingly Skype have cut me off due to exceeding their 50 calls per day limit. They are now suspending my Skype account until 1st August, just for making over 50 calls!

Am looking at alternative VoIP solutions as we speak.

I remember you saying you were with TalkTalk, and that they didn't impose charges / limits, but I'm wanting to stick with Plusnet, and use a VoIP package for calls.

If anyone can recommend a cheap / reliable alternative to Skype (which allows 100 + calls per day), please let me know.

    Cheers - Sim.

Have you thought of opening a second SKYPE account?

Have you thought of opening a second SKYPE account?

    Hi Paul,

Yes, I have. I was just worried, that Skype would frown upon this, and then suspend both accounts!

Looks like it's worth a try.

I'm feeling very stressed / frustrated today, that I can't seem to get cracking with this survey work.

Am very tempted to change from Plusnet to TalkTalk, and have done with it, as (from what you've said) TT seem to allow the 0845 'indirect access numbers'.

Plusnet most definitely don't, and an average 15 minute survey call (I tested the water a few months back) was costing me just over £1.00 :o So, that's obviously not sustainable.

I wanted to work today, but due to my Skype access being suspended until 1st August, I can't now. Immensely annoying.

    How's your day coming on?

Hope you had some better results since yesterday!

    Cheers - Sim.

I have had no problems with Talktalk about calling 0845 numbers; it is truly unlimited calls to 0845/0870 numbers.

Revenue sharing on 0845 numbers is due to terminate at some point so the recording 0845 number could change to another revenue sharing number (0870 is no longer revenue sharing); if that did happen, I think everyone would have to switch to SKYPE.

But for the moment, Talktalk is definitely the best option, particularly in areas where Talktalk have unbundled LLU exchanges. The only problem with Talktalk is the appalling customer service should anything go wrong!

    Hi Paul,

So TalkTalk never charge you to call the OC 0845 number then? Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and move. I really wanted to stay with Plusnet for my broadband / calls but hey ho..

If it's the choice between working or not though, I'll have to!

Interesting what you say re the revenue sharing and 0845 / 0870 numbers. Why oh why don't OC use a flippin' 0800 number? It would cure many a headache :o

It's been months now since I've ummed and ahhed about changing my calls package over, and having tried Skype yesterday(which isn't going to be sustainable long term having numerous accounts, aside from the faff involved - time wasted converting AAC files into MP3 and emailing each one to OC. That time would be better spent making more calls = more surveys = more money!)

So, I'm going to move from Plusnet to TalkTalk, finally!

Do you mind me asking Paul, how much you pay for your line rental / broadband / calls package with TalkTalk?

At the moment, with Plusnet, I'm paying £11.99 for the Line Rental + £3.50 for the Call Plan + the Broadband should usually be £5.99 but Plusnet are giving me a £6.24 discount on my bill so the Broadband is effectively free.

    So 11.99 + 3.50 + 5.99 - 6.24 = £15.24 per month.

I think TalkTalk were about £17 per month when I looked into it, in the New Year. So, Plusnet offered to undercut them.

Am looking for the best possible deal with TalkTalk, so any further info would be most appreciated.

Am about to order my MAC key from Plusnet now.

    Wish me luck!

    Cheers - Sim.

PS - Love the 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' reference btw ;-)

    PS - I'm assuming TT want to rope us into a 12 / 18 month contract? :-/

    Just found their promotion -

    http://sales.talktalk.co.uk/product/broadband/?portalId=GOO_BRA&WT.mc_id=GOO_BRA

Looks like the 'Plus / Unlimited' package is what I'll need for the anytime calls for Optimum Contact?

    Congrats! :T

Can you tell me more re TalkTalk?

I'm looking at their site now, and am a bit miffed that they'll be costing me an extra £5 a month :o

Have you been able to call 'indirect access numbers' free of charge too then?

Any extra info re TT would be great.

    Cheers - Sim.
