Can you tell me when you killed the mains power and pulled the battery lead , that the panel went dead.
Then when the power was put back on the panel should have began to make noises.

if you press any of the keys do you hear any sounds?

  • Thanks Jim, yes it made sounds when powering up. It makes a sound when I touch keys. The tamper light is still on. I tried setting it. It makes a noise; 10 rings repeated, when I walked passed the PIR it just kept going 10 rings but the bell outside isn't going off. I've put my code in and its stopped but the tamper light's still on.

Are you sure you have fitted the panel cover fully on, you can check this by unscrewing the control panel cover, gently pull it forwards and listen for a click. this is the tamper switch behind the cover operating.
Check that you can hear it when you take the cover forward then again when you put the cover back in place.

  • Thanks, done that it seems ok but still tamper light. Will try again in morning off to college now. Thanks very much for your help.
  • Best to open the panel and link out the tamper zone, use a loop of wire. Then hold the tamper sring on the back of the panel. Then enter your code and see if it will reset.
If that dont reset the tamper.
, it could be your SAB tamper. for that you will have to link out tamper return and neg- where the sab block is.

If your going this far into it, best to get the installer manual so you can find the right points.

You will not be able to reset the panel untill you remove the tamper.
  • Thanks Security man.

    Another brainwave,

Remenber when you took off the remote keypad cover , this also has a tamper switch fitted, Check that the cover, the one that holds in the buttons is correctly in place.

    .
