  • You should have a 3amp unswitch spur, if not you can down power by switching the whole fuse board. What i would do is switch one at the time to find the right one and mark it so you only every have to check one if the rcd trips.

But when you down power it you will to open the panel to dis the battery leads aswell.

I can give you my number if you want to talk.
  • Sorry to be a pain but there aren´t any switches on panel. I´ve switched off at mains and back on but it hasn´t worked. Still got green light on unset and red light on zone 1. Tried to input code and reset but nothing works.

    Did you try 1234, 1111, 5678
Or check online or your user giude for factory codes, just in case your NVM has not held the codes.

Right lets get back to basics:

Zone 1 red light is on, that is wired to the front door. Wires have been disconnected then reconnected.

When you had them disconnected did you twist them together making the circuit?.

If you did and then reset the panel that may clear the zone 1 red light being lit.

When resetting the control panel processor you have to do two things,

Power down electricity supply to the panel,

The LED on the control panel will go out.

Remove control panel cover, Alarm may sound, type in user code to stop noise.

Located inside control panel is a 12 volt battery, remove red lead from battery.

The outside bell or siren may start, nothing you can do at this stage.

Replace red lead to battery, Panel will come alive, type in user code.
outside bell or sounder will stop. Do not press reset button.

Replace cover, switch on electricity, type in user code, press reset.

I suspect that you have had a power cut , the battery in the control panel may not have been changed out for a while and may be weak, when the power came back on the processor locked up.

The front door switch may be a red herring.

Try a complete panel reset, if the problem is still there short out the door switch wires and see what you get.

Sounds difficult but it isn't really once you get started :o

Cheers Jim, it's easyer for me to do than say.
  • Thanks to all for your help. Will try that now. If you hear a lot of noise its my alarm.
    Thanks
  • Ok, switched off trip ( marked alarm) didn't make any difference, lights still on. Switched off mains, still lit up and not flashing. Eased cover off but can't see battery. Is it behind number pad? No diagram in manual though it does mention a battery.
Thanks, sorry to be a pain.

i think you are trying to get the cover off the Keypad

What you are looking for is the control panel

10inches by 8 inches , white with a single led on the front

usually located in the cupboard wheer the electricity meter is,
  • Sorry lads, not my forte alarms. Found control panel with fused spur, turned off spur, switch and eventually everything, green light stayed on. Opened up, disconnected battery and reconnected. Alarm didn´t go off but did power up. I´ve now got a red tamper light and a green unset light on. I haven´t tried to reset it yet. Is that next?
    Thanks again

Right , You have to replace the control panel cover , then press reset, that should clear the tamper fault

  • Thanks Jim, done that but it hasn't made a difference.
