Well finally got the papers through, along with 2 cc offers and egg offering me a loan upto £25000:rolleyes: .And they look a bit duanting, so am going to wait to this evening and have a real crack at it.

Would I be better off staying off work until I have filed? or am I better returning in a fortnight as planned. Im off with depression at the minute due to a combination of money worries and the ex girlfriend giving me grief.

    Hi All,

I have been thinking about and playing around with our statements.

At the moment hubby and i have an arrangement where he pays the rent and I pay all the other bills. Now if I am right, when we go br, they are going to want us to split everything 50/50. If this is the case, according to my money I do not have enough to cover 50% of the bills, along with small amounts for clothing/haircuts etc. But hubby will have a larger amount of 'spare' cash. Will they allow him to keep giving me the extra money I will need to meet my half of everything, or will they just take all his extra money so we get left in a muddle, as I won't be able to afford my half of everything.

Hope this made sense, am really worried. It is complicated going BR together!

Go back to work when your health is back to normal, I have been signed off with depression for long periods previously and it is better to wait until you are feeling better before returning, if you go back too soon you can just make it worse!

  • Hi Flis,
I asked a similar question earlier in the thread...if I recall correctly I was advised that you just do one joint SOA/budget for your 'household' if you are declaring at the same time, and they'll only take one payment (if you have an IPA/IPO) from you as a couple per month.
Do check back to the replies I got to doublecheck though, as there was great advice there. And please correct me if I'm wrong!!
    Good luck :)

  • CAB told me i wouldn't be allowed my car probably and i can't sell it on to anyone i know. it's a renault espace 10 yrs old and a bit of a gas guzzler, i use it to run 3 kids to school and back and pick up bf from airport (he pays for the petrol)
i put it on auction but it only fetched £400. but i do want to keep it if i can. am i being selfish ?
in the great scheme of things, the car is least of my worries really.
any ideas on what to eat to put weight back on too? the stress is really getting to me. i should be bankrupt early january, just trying to raise fees now

The OR would not take your car away from you UNLESS it is worth a lot of money.
You have no need to worry, you will be allowed to keep your car. They are looking for a good few thousand pounds that they can get their hands on.

Try to stress less, and to eat properly.

Put your mind at rest, the answer is no to all questions!

The bankruptcy will not affect you if all of the debts are in OH name, which it seems that they are.

They do not send anybody to go through your house, your personal possessions or anything else.

Remember that they are only trying to recoup back some of the debt - so they are looking for things that would raise a lot of money - antiques, valuable furniture, cars, etc.

They will not touch any of your private belongings.

If you OH is on a course and you are living on benefits, there won't even be any IPA to pay.

By the way, student loans cannot be put in with the bankruptcy, they still have to be paid.

The br fee would be £325 as the Court Fee of £150 is usually waived if you are on benefits.

    I hope this helps.

With regards student loans, I know that these will come back to me now that I am going for bankruptcy but will Student Loans want the whole lot owing in one go or do they put you back on to what you were paying before? Anyone experienced this?
