    Hi everyone,

I saw mentioned in another post regarding BC, that you cant be a driving instructor if you are BC.

Ive never heard this - does anyone know if its true or not?

    All the best

I cant see anything on the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) website that would indicate this for a `normal` Bankruptcy, as it is not a criminal offence.

If you go to 'quick links' there is a signature option. Edit your signature to say what you want. Next time you post, make sure 'show your signature' is ticked in the miscellaneous options of the posting form, then it will be displayed.

Give it a go, and if it doesn't work, let me/us know.

Thank you, now I'll see if it works!

    Hi,

I am registered to this thread and did receive automatic emails whenever a message was posted by someone.

The automatic emails just wont come through now from about page 98 onwards so I am missing a lot of talk.

I have selected to receive emails automatically and it says that it's selected when I look in edit forum subscriptions.

Any one having the same problem?

I have deselected and reselected the receive emails automatically when a message is posted to this list but no messages ever come through now.

    Any suggestions

    Hi
Looking at my debts and how things are working out for me,I really think that bankruptcy is my only option.
Due to my business failing, although I am working hard freelance and paying off necessary debts like the business rates arrears-I am working to keep a roof over our heads and look after my kids.
I have spoken to a friend who told me this week she went bankrupt 2 years ago and said it was the only option for her too and the best thing she ever did.
In everyone's experience-is it the best option?
I have been fighting it as I am the kind of person that thinks I am morally responsible to repay the debts (all of them are from the business) and have tried to come to arrangements with my creditors.
I feel guilty as hell-and I would like to point out that I ploughed all my savings into the business etc and these debts are not from living a 'champagne charlie'lifestyle-just through a run of bad luck with staff, bad decisions and being too busy trying to get the money in the till to pay the business overheads-and maybe not enough time devoted to actually managing it.
I rent my home-I have a car leased through the business (when things were going smoothly a couple of years ago) which I know I will lose.Myself and my 2 teenagers(an expense in themselves) do not live a luxury lifestyle. What can they take away?
One of my main concerns when I spoke to a debt advisor about it is that they may see my dog as an asset-she was a pedigree and cost £550.This upset me so much as she was a big part of our family-and my main social life was taking her for a good long walk-as I cannot afford nights out or anything. She kept me sane!Unfortunately she was knocked over and died before Xmas and we were all left ttally devastated.
Since then, with a donation from my parents and OH I scraped together enough to buy another puppy-she cost £325. I know this may not seem an essential purchase to some-but we could not cope without her and she has helped a lot.I am worried that she will also be seen as an asset-as I have no others.
I would appreciate any views on the situation.
    Thanks

    Fabianne,

    First things first. Welcome!
Secondly, you do not have to justify yourself here.
Thirdly, a dog isn't an asset - unless it was a stud or champion greyhound. Yours is a pet.

But as to whether you should go bankrupt is not something anyone here can suggest. Call Payplan or CCCS and discuss your position with them. They are in the know, upto date on regulations and stuff and can help to advise you on your own particular circumstances. Besides - of you do decide BR is the best course of action, you will have to have spoken to them anyway for full advice. Going BR is a big step and it may be the best option, then again it may not. A judge does ask you if you have taken professional advice when you declare BR.

well tomorrow is BR day 9:45am ! Oh my god ! Im here eating my tea (feels like the condemneds last meal!)
been panicky all day, started off with rows and shouting with OH which I have managed to supress now as I haven't spoken all day especially about tomorrow (although I do still need him to sign the forms and go through a few things with him)but for now I ll take the uneasy truce!
will let you all know how it goes (or doesn't!! god what a thought what if the judge chucks him out?? no BR??) so I ll let you all know once we back and sorted although Ive just had to lie to his boss (whos a friend as well!) about why he needs tomorrow morning off as OH has put it off all week telling him! (so annoying !)
Anyway just a great big thank you for all that have helped me and listened to me witter for the past couple of months. big kiss xxxx thanks

    Thanks Charlotte
She isn't a champion showdog or anything.
I have spoken to and got good advice from the debt advisors with CCCS and National Debt line and the business debt line.Once I had been through the whole thing-they all suggested BR to me-it is my donkey feet that is stopping me.
I also mentioned my options to my Mum-and she freaked out-think she is more worried about it being in the local paper,so I may not tell her if I go ahead as she is one of the 'what will the neighbours say?' brigade-and I am concerned too as I would hate my ex husband to gloat over it if he saw it.I also worry about if my clients will see it and judge/quizz me.
My car would have to be given back (can't afford it anyway) BUT if I got an old banger-would that be ok?Or if I can't afford one at present-are you allowed to save to buy one in the future? Part of my business is freelance and I would need to get to my clients you see.
Are you allowed to start savings for University fees etc for the kids??
