Our total debt is about half yours - I do feel for you. Thankfully we're renting our home, so won't lose our home - that must be the toughest thing.
Let's get through this together. In 2010 I would like money left at the end the month rather than more month left at the end of the money!!

I have one of those Individual Voluntary Arrangements IVA's and may as well be bankrupt. Can't see a way out of debt for many years now. I have started a long hard journey and it might make me feel better if I could also join your club.
I have been very unwell since doing the IVA and I think the stresses and strains are affecting my health big time.
Recently a kitchen appliance failed on me and I ordered one from my catalogue company who I have been loyal to for many years. They told me the rules on credit have changed and I couldn't order the product. That was my only hope of buying anything in installments as I am skint.
I have had to starve and freeze this week in order to buy the appliance in cash.:cool:0 -
A bit late for you now, Belfast, but it can be worth asking on your local Freecycle forum for emergency things - I often see requests there from people in similar need. https://www.freecycle.org0

hello help and advice please
I am just starting this journey and starting realise my situation until today i was in denial and making things seem better than they were i have posted in the general form but am looking at all options ok so heres my reality

next 800.00
ge cap store c 980.00
bank loan 1000.00

my debts occur from when i was working full time a while back but i stopped working f/t became a carrer for the equivilant of mil she passed away ...so no more money took on a cleaning job and some odd child minding then i caught pregnant with my second child...i developed a sever form of morning sickness and had to be hospitalised on and off then i developed gestational diabetes
then a c section ....no income for near to 8 months all my savings went on trying to keep up with minimum payments then having to buy baby things (my other son is 7 so we hadnt got any baby things left)....and now trying to find anything that fits around a new born and a 7 yrs old is almost imposible i am going to doctors tomorw as i feel so down i think it may be post natal depresion i had it with my first son but want to sort it out what with that and the worry of this i barley slepp at night...
income is very low on partners side hence we get the higher rate ctc of 86.00 per week and my family allowance is 29.00 per week
115.00 per week
i pay for the food 70 per week
the poll tax 15 per week
elec /gas 15 per week
disel/tram fares 10 per week
i have written to the above people to see if i can come to some arrangment with them as we were going to put that 5 spare from income above with a few pounds from partner and try to pay around 45 a month of but i have a feeling they wont accept this. and today partner has received a call from work puting him on short days till end of financial year...so thats all gone to pot.
all the above debts are mine and mine alone that i bought with me into the relationshp and i know that if he had the money he would help , but i dont want to get a loan to combine etc as we just cant afford it.
he pays the mortgage and every other bill that comes into the house plus tops the money i put to poll tax is only my half not full bill... we are not behind on any essential bills and he does the odd car service where possible to pay for things like christmas ect,,,i am mortified humilited and defeated to be in this position.....i do not know what to do next i have recievd my pack from the debt advice line and am stuck as to what to do......what do you all think i do realise in the end its my choice but opinions would be gratefully taken ...no family member or friend knows about my situation just my partner.

Hi
firstly don`t beat yourself up over this. You have come to the most supportive group of people I have ever come across on the net.!!:j
Do what you can with the debt pack - Does it give you a Statement of affairs sheet and guideline figures ? Fill in what you can to give you an accurate picture of where you are at.
Make an appointment with one of the free debt guidance agencies( CAB CCCS Payplan etc. ) and get some good professional advice. Do not under any circumstances pay for this advice.
You have taken what is probably the most difficult step by posting on here.
We will be here to guide and give you support through your Journey to recovery.

Glad to hear that you`ve taken another step..
We used the CAB money advisor in our local and she was brilliant. We started trying to repay in January last year but by September it was pretty clear that we were getting nowhere so we were advised to BR.
Just make sure that it`s the money advisor you see as not all advisors are as well versed as others. The one we saw was actually an employee of the CAB as opposed to a volunteer. This is a very specialised area1/11/06 -1/06/07 BSC #42

Hi jbaugh and welcome.
There are lots and lots of other routes that you can investigate rather than bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is always a last resort and is very difficult, you need to be sure that is exactly what you want before you start to plan it. Your debts are in the reigion of £7k, they to you are massive, I can understand that, however it may be possible that with careful management of them you can come out of it without declaring bankruptcy.
have a look at these sites that explain Debt management plans, IVA's Banruotcy etc etc...
