Just some info I found out today

1-- The job centre can help you with transport to and from work -- spoke to an advisor today

2-- If you want to post the car you have I can have someone in the industry *car industry* ask around for buyers.

Thanks jen_br. I feel pretty demoralised and out of words, at the moment. Like a second class citizen, which does'nt help in the face of things.

So heres my next ' excuse ' .I rarely work the same town, city village, or even county, for two days running. I travel all over the place, sometimes doing 100's of miles a day, and not always accesible by public transport. Fact. Sorry, excuse.

Add on the fact i've been told i won't be given anymore work, if i can't guarantee i've got a reliable car. Fact.

Thats the only ( genuine ), reason i got to keep the car in the first place, coupled with the fact its worth sod all. To be honest it IS worth more to me on the road, no mistaking it.

    Aaaaaaaarrrghhh

I'll get back to you. I really appreciate it, thanks

Nohope, can I ask, what is it you do?

I have thought about it and thought about it. I know Housing Benefit are very funny about self employed people. We were put on an intervention while they looked at our accounts, but that meant they were still paying us while they worked out how much we were entitled to. I had to write a letter, take in invoices, bank statements and other stuff. It was during a difficult time period where DH was not being paid by his employer at the time either. he may have been allowed to bank one cheque and then nothing for weeks.

oh and the post I lost earlier? It mentioned that if you are over 50, WTC will pay out if you were previously on benefits.

Fair enough, just saying that it might be worth trying housing benefit again. Or have you already done all the bank statements, accounts, route?

Working Tax Credit if you are over 50 and have recently started work
If you are over 50, have recently started work for 16 hours or more a week and were getting certain benefits when you took your job, you can get Working Tax Credit. So, if you were previously getting Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance, Incapacity Benefit or Severe Disablement Allowance, state Retirement Pension paid with Pension Credit, or certain training allowances, you may be able to get Working Tax Credit when you start work. You must usually have been getting these benefits for at least six months. If you were not entitled to benefits, but you were getting national insurance credits, you may also be able to get Working Tax Credit. In some cases you can get Working Tax Credit because someone else was getting benefit which included an amount for you.
If you are aged 50 or over and you are not sure whether you qualify for Working Tax Credit because you have recently started work, you should consult an experienced adviser, for example, at a Citizens Advice Bureau. No, they won't let me get that far. Thats why i want to get up to date with my ni conts, so next month i'm taking all my ammunition in. I just have to wait for all my P60's , ermm 30 ish of them, which always takes some time, as companies can send them as late as September, ( yes, i know they're not supposed to ). Just as late as their pay.So take my bank statements too? I think i've destroyed most of my previous bank account statements. I could'nt bear to look at them. Oh * . I'm hoping i might get some back dated assistance? ( well, you can always hope ). Maybe i should try again even though i'm over the threshold for the previous year, before this tax year expires? if you see what i mean. After your previous post, oops just seen you've made another post i've not read. Back in a mo

Nah. I've tried CAB. I was only off work for 3 months and received ESA. I'll have to go for wtc, off this tax year, but only when i've caught up with my ni conts, ( sometime never ).
