As always, excellent writing from Sue, please take time to have a read Ani
    xxxx

It could almost be me she is writing about? There is being poor, and there is being poor. But not poor in spirit, despite all? Only those who dredge something from somewhere, survive? Or extremely bad luck.

I would like to know how she got her disability tc completely back dated? I have been told they only back date it one month, due to cuts. Shame they still have all my income tax, too. Hmrc must be rolling in it? Another for the mp?

I bet you are out in the sunshine. Fewer SCs? I think you sent them up here. :p

    Sunshine? Where? :rotfl:

It is getting distinctly colder, here. It'll be snowing, soon. :rotfl:

No. I haven't done any serious gardening, for some time now. 1) It's never stopped raining. 2) It's taking me all my time to empty the kitchen, and still appeal / sort, all those financial things which need to be sorted. I think i'm up to speed with it all now, except the ct and all the hmrc palava. So long as i've some money coming in, you are right. It will be sorted eventually. Or not.

The kitchen is getting there, now, apart from the wm and fridge, which i can't move. There's a limit to what i can do. The garden is a mess / wants weeding. This i will do when every man and his dog, is in my kitchen? Weather permitting, of course.

Some things seem to be taking on a second lease of life, in the garden. The chocklit plants which i completely cut back, are now amazing, and now have huge flowers and lots of buds. The gladioli. need i say more. There is a different coloured gladioli, every day. The rain daisies are thriving, so far. The sc's haven't done major damage to my new delphinium, as yet (sshhh.) I still have my one tiny tomato, which is now a slightly bigger, tiny tomato. :rotfl: I have some spring onions, commonly known as autumn onions, ( at last.) :D I have tens of tiny cucumbers, i think, ( at last.) Cucumber soup, anyone? The lilies have also been fabulous. I've had several different shades of pink, and now i have some white ones, too. That is all you can smell, when you go into the garden. The sweet peas are doing rather well, but i don't know if it's too late for them to flower? The first lot i planted look as though they are going that way, but? Who knows? I don't. One of my sweet williams survived being moved twice. I had six plants originally. Ah well. Shame.

On the minus side, i've lost all but one of my lupins, thanks to the sc's, and i'll never know what colour that last lupin was. I've lost my lettuce, either to sc's or rain, or both? I lost my geraniums, ( strange,) either to sc's or rain, or both? Sc's aren't supposed to like the smell of geraniums? However, they are starting to shoot back again. I think it's just a question of tidying up now, and maybe look at buying a shed, before the frosts start setting in? I've nowhere to put all these chocklit plants. :D

RD, i forgot my potatoes :rotfl: They seem to have been attacked (eaten ) above ground too, before the point where they flower? :o Maybe i should have a dig? ( being a total potato novice.) Still, nothing lost, i guess, as i would have only thrown the potatoes out, anyway. :D I forgot my marigolds. I had considerable success with the ones i planted in a tub, and they are still flowering, too. I was looking for information on my gifts (chocklit plants,) and it says they are for experienced growers. :rotfl: Anyway, they need to be dried out in september? I should probably check out what to do with the rest of my plants, or maybe i should just garage everything temporarily, until i get a shed. It's strange that at my time of life, this is the first summer i've had serious attempts at gardening. Never had time or inclination before? I guess i had a ready made garden here, too, and it seemed a shame to let it go to rack and ruin. Still, it has been good therapy? This place has generally been looked after / loved, if not updated. I'm still thankful it had decent carpets and curtains, top quality wall coverings. How lucky was that? I certainly couldn't have afforded them.

Maybe i should wait until i receive a letter from hmrc, then back to mp again? I hate to have to go back there, again. :o

  • I've learn a very good trick when it comes to all housework. Do it for 20 minutes at a time and then a ten minute break. It doesn't matter how much you get done but the break is the most important thing as it stops you getting disheartened. If you can manage more than 20 then do 45 minutes with a 15 minute break.

Break things down into manageable chunks, this goes for all your paperwork and calls too. I hope it helps.

I am totally in awe of your flowers... Can just imagine the waft of lilies when you go out... mmm!

Potatoes - I doubt you've lost them. My technical knowledge on potatoes is rudimentary but I think the tops die off anyway, while the treasure lies under the ground. You can always start digging?

Well done on all the kitchen stuff. That must have been a massive effort. Do you know when the workmen are due yet? This new kitchen is getting exciting! :D

Still not worked out how to get them to shoot at slugs, but you can't have everything.
