Ahem! It's August Bank Holiday here! I'm wearing shorts.
No, you're mistaken, it wasn't august bank holiday, at all. Wait a minute. Yes it was. Typical bank holiday weather...................:rotfl:Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Any of that ice cream and/or popcorn left please? You lot are bad for my healthy eating.
Any purple trousers... put me on the list! Ooo, Ani, we could match! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I confess in advance I am going to Primark today... and TKMaxx... if you don't report me to the MSE Police I would be very grateful. It's all in aid of DD's University splurge. Crikey, just thought... if DS2 pulls his socks up, we'll have it to do again in two years.
Ani, hope the kitchen goes well today. We have just started to decorate our dining room which hasn't been done (apart from odd bits of paint) in nearly 20 years. It's the room that has piano, largish fish tank, built in bookcase, sideboard, bureau bookcase, dining table and storage heater in, besides a box and a heap of Mum's papers. This is why it's always been too daunting, but we have bitten the bullet. BTW, apologies I still owe you a pm. I'll try to get time tonight (now it's a few days old it requires brain power).
And just a thought - your SW should be able to give you some help with buying in assistance. I've often seen ads in the paper for people to provide support - CRBs necessary and so on. I think Direct Payments comes into it? Either that or use one of the companies who provide support workers. Not sure who's around in your area. The company I work for specialises but not in the right areas for you - but there are others.Miggy

Typical bank holiday weather meant no gardening has been done. Everything is now starting to die off. It's either drowning? or been attacked by sc's? or both? Even my beautiful geraniums, ( as was.) Not anymore. I have my first tiny tomato. It remains to be seen whether it will grow? Or drown? I had my first tiny peppers, but they dropped off the plant. Why, i don't know.
The gladioli have been superb. Lemon, pink and now some lilac blooming. I managed to protect them from the sc's enough to flower. I also have some tall white flowers with maroroon " inners". I haven't a clue what these are? The lillies have been superb, too, and you can smell the scent every time you venture into the garden. I say venture, because that's the way the weather has been. I'm now looking to tidy the garden for autumn, and may start putting some plants in the garage, soon. Alternatively, i may purchase a shed? It would be good to have a " proper " place to keep all my plants and gardening " stuff ". There's already a space from the previous shed. Shame they took it.
I achieved some more kitchen decluttering, yesterday, and some more paper sorting into files. I now need a filing system for all the files, can you believe? All the * i've had to deal with these last 8 months. Unbelievable. I am trying not to look back, and it is, in fact, easy to forget all the endless phone calls and letters, although there is still the ongoing appeal with hmrc. My living room is now unbearably cluttered, and i'm runnung out of space for the remainder of the kitchen contents. I've left one space, but it's not going to fit my both my washing machine and the fridge. That's aside from the cooker i don't have? I hope the kitchen fitters will move these for me? as there's no way i can move them.
The cooker i chose is no longer available, and i'm struggling to find another cooker i like. Am i supposed to like / want it? or is it necessity. I am bored with cookers, and any will do? On my search for a cooker, i have seen a small, undercounter, fridge freezer, with a smaller fridge space then i have now, but also a small freezer compartment. The energy supplier have sent me a form to apply for an appliance, so i may apply for a new fridge, as the seals have gone on my fridge, it also has holes in, and it's generally leaking and not working effectively. A far cry from the first fridge i ever owned, which lasted for around 30 years. :rotfl:
I've also seen a computer i like. Like, want and actually, need. Oh dear. It makes a brew for you, too. :rotfl:Hmmm, i'm rather computer focused, at the moment, since i've seen this one. I shall ring the supplier, and if i can get the 20% off deal, they say they are offering, in store, then maybe now is as good a time as any? In the meantime i shall see about my wardrobe, today. I must be careful to leave enough for the car tax and the car repairs. Didn't take long, did it? but at least it's all been spent wisely? Mustn't forget the mattress. It's like setting up ----, all over again. I shan't say that word. I have a problem with it.
The great ml is on tv talking about the energy hike. Seems i was one step ahead of that one, at least, as it has already been sorted. I also rang them yesterday, and i'm having an energy monitor installed, for free, after the kitchen has been installed. I'm also getting a free carbon monixide monitor. I've done everything i possibly can, on the energy side.
I desperately need to do. Nothing. This kitchen stuff is going to take months, as it's going to take me months to unpack my lounge, and finally sort all the clutter in here. Ah well, you can only do what you can do, and live from day to day? I must also remember to ring and enquire about meals on wheels, short term. Maybe i would have qualified before, but it's too late to think about that now, but it's occured to me, i'll have nowhere to cook at all, with the state of the lounge being what it is.For today. They do a similar thing to meals on wheels here I've had before only they are microwaveable and wiltshire farm foods.
If you can't get MoW it may be worth risking some precious money to get those. They are very good and the delivery drivers are very nice just don't get the desserts!!! (rip off)... Even the really cheap ones are good (that's all the council used to fund when I had them)...
If not get a microwave and get the book 1000 Microwave meals or something. You may be able to pick it up in a charity shop. Will keep thee fed. I've done omelette in the microwave before and I still do pizza in there (quicker than the oven:D)

Hi Ani,
Been away from MSE for a few days, so just caught up with your diary.
Well done on finally getting your deserved money. I am so pleased for you.
Now you can try that green lentil stew/curry.
Money FritterDFW#972 LBM2 (09/07/12) £25938.84; Current £23783.35;Credit Credit Card1 £128.47/£6424.24 (2%);Credit Card2 £443.86/£15663.25 (2.8%); Overdraft £0/£2500 (0%)0 -
Thanks mf, i was thinking about the stew, only the other day, but now i've got to search for it again, as i didn't copy it.
Mind you, i'll have no money left, at this rate. I enquired about the computer this morning, but i couldn't get it for the price i wanted to pay, so i decided against buying one. It's probably just as well, as i got into ani, started the engine and was engulfed in white smoke. Seemingly, the alternator has gone, ( with no warning, ) so that is potentially another £300? Just like that. Gone up in smoke as it burnt the belt, literally. Someone up there must hate me. I'm convinced.
It's made me consider the practicalites of running a car, ( especially an old one, ) as things are starting to go wrong with alarming regularity, and when they do, they cost hundreds of pounds. Then i consider the repairs and the amount of money i've spent on ani so far, and think, well, what else can go wrong? Alot. I am already in the money pit. Is it time to quit? On the other hand, when i consider what i've replaced already, i don't know.
For now, i'm without car anyway, and life has become difficult, transport wise. Pah, just got a phone call. It's going to be £300+. Do i or don't i? I could have bought a banger for the amount of money i've spent on ani, this year? On the other hand, what state would a banger be in? B*y cars. Decisions, decisions i can't make.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?
