Sleeping Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Everything catches up with me sooner or later, which just reinforces the fact i know i couldn't possibly return to work, ( because i'm ill,) although the word work, seems to be arising more frequently. All this excitement? and yet more problems to solve, people to see, has taken its toll on me. Today, i am going to do little of anything, ( until the post arrives with the next crisis.) Might do a small amount of gardening. The hands on slimey critter approach seems to be the only viable removal method. As fast as offenders are removed, whole colonies of little buga's appear the next day. I've got the " hot spots " sussed, now. Maybe i should put a warning sign on my bin? Those more resourceful creatures keep climbing the sides of the bin. There's no escape. Not here, anyway.
Huh, gp's striking tomorrow. Best make sure you're not ill tomorrow? When you are in my situation, you can't stop yourself thinking, why? I suppose if you look at it from the other side of the coin, i'd do exactly the same thing. My gut feeling says, thank you're lucky stars. You're hardly going to be impoverished? God, the whole country is still in a huge mess.
On that note, some souls say there IS no money in the pot. This is how it is on benefits. Get yourself back to work. Yeah right. I'm increasingly being pushed into considering returning to my job, from one point of view or the other. Give up my self employment. Hang on, i thought you said i'm employed? Only when suits. So which is it then? Employed or self employed?
I know when my entity has collapsed both mentally and physically, so work is off the agenda, right now, even if it means i join the ranks of those who can't afford to live. My feeling is those who already have benefits in place, are extremely fortunate. For now. It's an uphill battle, otherwise.
The good news is after one? phone call on monday morning from cheese, and i am to be the recipient of a brand new designer kitchen? I haven't got it yet, so i won't count my chickens :rotfl:, but a certain well known kitchen company is coming to design a kitchen for me, next week. We are only talking small here, as my kitchen is only 7ft by 7ft, but hopefully we can make the best use of the available space, and be able to insert a cooker, a washing machine and a fridge, and have some work surfaces, storage space? Trying to sort the cooker with the charity. Never thought i'd reach the point where a cooker is a luxury. Getting used to using my friend the slow cooeker now. However you can't cook yorkshires in the sc. Guess what the first item i will cook in any oven, will be?Hmmm, still got dumplings though. Mustn't forget.
Still, i feel terrible because i've queue jumped? They said there is a two year waiting list. Really? Why didn't they just tell me then? At least i would know something was being done and how long i'd have to wait? On the other hand, what crosses the boundaries in terms of " modern day " living? I didn't realise, i have boxes of my kitchenware, pots and pans etc, in my living room, a) because i haven't been using them b) because there is nowhere to store them. Mind you, the ha suggested i store my washing machine in my living room, too. I wonder if they live like this? or if its exclusive to tennants?
My new specs arrived yesterday. I'm not sure if i can learn to live with them, but i'll give them a fair trial. However, it makes a huge difference being able to see again. I can now see the computer screen, read a book? Which reminds me, i ordered my first ever large print book from the library on monday. I already had a book, but had to take it back as the print was minute. It's like being back at school isn't it? Reading ladybird books with large print? :rotfl: I wonder if ladybird are still in existence? Still, it's something i'd forgotten about until i noticed the large print section. A poor selection of books i'd never read, but never mind, i can always order a book.
Having a few problems with the dro, as some of the items from my br are still showing on my credit file, taking me over the limit to apply. Although i thought i'd never have to get in touch with the is again, it's had to be done. Mind you, i've never found them anything except helpful, despite what other people say. It's brought it all flooding back, to some extent, searching through all those br orders, possession orders, etc. Stuff i never want to see again.
All in all, the only thing i need now is enough income to cover my bills and basic living costs. Not too much to ask. Is it? I don't aspire to anything except a peaceful, basic life. No great ambitions. Just an extra few bob a week. Its unlikely to happen. Oh, i forgot, my sw is appealing the decision on my dla.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

I'll never reply to all that in one post!
First of all, congrats on the kitchen! I had no idea things like that could happen. And even if you 'queue jumped', the chances are that with your current level of unkitchen-ness, you are at greater need than others in the queue. 7'x7' is smaller than ours (9'2"x6'5"), though not a lot. We have a w/machine, full sized dishwasher (no not me) and cooker - the freezer is under the stairs and the fridge is in the larder. So something may be do-able even if they have to be creative.(We were!)
Yay to the glasses! I think you'll find your eyes will adapt - DD's correct prescription took a while to work because she hadn't had glasses for a while. Apparently the brain has to relearn how to see properly. Meanwhile how good to be able to read again! I'm supposing you have your computer set up to larger print because some of the print on here is truly miniscule. I'm wearing ordinary glasses and struggling which reminds me... reading glasses... ah! that's better!
Have you asked your doctor about the tiredness? I remember you said you'd had blood tests but I can't think how long ago. Even if they ruled out things like anaemia or hypothyroidism (struggling to spell those at this time of day), it's possible your iron levels have subsequently gone down, or possibly - more likely - it's stress, but you know that. The doc might be able to give you some idea how long it's likely to go on? In the meantime you had such a big day on Monday that no wonder you slept yesterday!
I have to go for a bit - get self ready for the day while DS2 (who is once again not in the maternal good books) finds out whatever it is he thinks is so essential from the computer before heading off to spend the day with friends. So see you later!
P.S. Does this mean they will plumb in your washing machine and save you some of that £24 a month?Miggy

Wow - that's great news. You shouldn't feel guity, just look at it as your need being greater than others who are waiting. According to the weather man, if you don't get out in the garden today, it might not be possible tomorrow.
Why are you unsure about the specs? I'm afraid it comes to a lot of us with increasing age! I spent about 6 months putting them on and taking them off (and leaving them behind when I went out) but finally succcumbed when I couldn't read prices in shops.
The radio yesterday enlightened me that the RPI was the lowest its been for the last 2.5 years, but I don't see any evidence of it.
Yesterday was stressful. Sheep and cattle up and down the road several times, driving the dog mad as they are only 6 ft from the front door and given half a chance would eat the calling cards. Huge machine called a jet pot came to fill in holes farther up the road caused by an underground spring. Cue splodges of wet tar in the road near me that I didn't see and dogs hind feet covered. After investigation on t'internet, discovered WD40 would remove it. Much newspaper, kitchen roll, scissors and half a can later and he was fit to be let back into the house.
Lets hope the sw makes a good job of your appeal.
Have a peaceful dayNever pass a chance to say you care to those in your life as we are not promised a tomorrow0 -
Oh your poor dog Flax! WD40 is magic stuff, and fairly safe too. (DS1 got it in his eye as a toddler and the medics just said it's a lubricant...). I hope your road dries out today.
You really do live close to nature, don't you!I had to laugh at the sheep eating the calling cards! Fun as a holiday experience but I'd imagine it gets a bit much unless you need to send yourself to sleep. One... two... three four five... six... seveneightnineteneleven... twelve, thirteen, fourteen... fifteen... shut up dog!... sixteen... seventeen...

Miggy - vigilance is top of the agenda when the cows and sheep have been past. He will roll in cow pats given half the chance and anything else that he thinks smells revolting enough. A decomposed rabbit has been the worst to date! Sheep have been back the other way this morning all shorn and white again.
Ani - I know what you mean about going through br stuff. It resurects all kinds of feelings. I had a ceremonial bonfire about 5 years down the line when I felt able. It was very cathartic. Have a good day.... have you thought you might see lots more sc now you have your glasses?Never pass a chance to say you care to those in your life as we are not promised a tomorrow0
