My hosta has sprouted very lacy leaves overnight despite my vigilance and a huge weed with leaves the size of dinner plates has sprouted through the potentilla. Have no idea how to remove it. Its growing in the middle of the roots.

Ah, can't help you there, unfortunately, ( don't want to tempt fate.)
How exciting to be able to have some choice in your kitchen. Don't feel guilty, look on it as catching up with the rest of the neighbourhood. Have another chilled day

I'm not quite sure why i still haven't got my financial life sorted.

Something to do with the goal posts keep moving?

I haven't checked my garden for voracious scs for a while - last time I only found one. I hope you al realise I am not itching to try to identify your unknown plants! Flaxseed, my first thought is possibly a teazle? My neighbour has some which are enormous! He grows them because the birds love the seeds.

Ani, can you remember what you planted?! :D Sorry, that sounds a dumb question, but once there are a few true leaves showing we might be able to do a process of elimination.

Anything good in the slow cooker today? I am going to raid the freezer for tea because once I'd shoved in the mince that I got reduced yesterday, I realised we are back at the point of room for one more ice cube...

Slow cooker is on. Decided it's stew weather instead, and since i managed to purchase fresh stew veg on the reduced counter, stew it is, ( along with the remaining mushies.) There isn't room for dumplings so they will have to wait. Shame, i fancied some dumplings. I forgot to look at fresh meat, as i never buy it, so meat will be out of a can.

Yep, i ended up spending some money today, which is bad news. It's benefits day today, so my £49 has now been spent, with the rent on monday and the odds and sods today, thats it. Gone. All because the b*y photocopier locally, is broken, so i had to waste petrol going to the next town, and spied some fresh food bargains whilst i was there. Still, i don't need to buy any food for a week at least. Why is it you have to feel guilty about buying food? When there isn't enough money? Also received a call whilst i was out saying my book had arrived. At least that's saved another lot of petrol. The tank is starting to empty, now, and i've no intention of buying more fuel before the insurance expires. Yes, i did have to pay for the book, but got it at discount price, ( only remembered at the last minute.) It's 50p i can't afford, so i won't be ordering another large print book :( I checked out the free service for some repairs here on monday and received a phone call saying they are coming tomorrow. I hope they don't want any money, but it will be uplifting to have the repairs done. I wonder what happened to the roof repair?

I just feel so tired again this afternoon.

No, is the easy answer to that.

    Ermmmm, lots of leaves? :o

Stew of undefined type, yet to be defined by which tin I open :D

You do make me laugh. Where would i be without you?

Washing machine - I think modern UK machines can be attached to the sink as Flaxseed suggested: http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/forum1/alternative-way-to-connect-a-washing-machine-t2961.html

Whether the existing hoses would be long enough, I don't know but I'm sure you would love to spend a rainy afternoon finding out! (Think of the savings if you are slightly tempted to disagree - or have us lot round and tell us to sort it ourselves if we're so clever ;) ).

A word of warning from personal experience - if the machine hasn't been used for a while be cautious on first use and have pots and pans ready. The rubber/plastic can perish. Mind you ours had been stored for years.

Sort it yourself if you're so clever? :p

I've already looked into it, plus there is physical moving the washing machine, err 7ft, every time you want to use it? :rotfl:( bearing in mind they are not designed to be moved, and i am not designed to move them.)

I did wonder about this, and it already needs a wash with soda or whatever, as it is starting to smell. It's about 6 months since it's been used, now.

Oh dear, now you have started me on problem-solving mode. I have to warn you it goes on and on...

So - w/m only has room to stand as far away as possible from the sink, and yes, I see what you mean about moving it. A permanent solution is evidently needed...

*Goes to unearth thinking cap, only to find it fell into the freezer three years ago and may therefore not be seen for months*.

    Answers on a postcard, please.

I don't know if a spot of bleach in the drum would help, or would it risk damage if undiluted? Actually if you want something to slow the germs and not eat at the rubber, would salt do?

This is not going to be much help, seeing as money is involved, though it may be worth contacting the HA and asking if it can be included...

    Longer filling hose

    Longer drain hose

Of course if you hunted around you might find cheaper, these are just to show what exists.

General info on installing washing machines.

See what I mean about me getting into problem solving mode? :D (Don't get fed up and banish me from your thread - pleeeease! :o) Just saying there may be a way forward...
