Food is cooking and it smells wonderful.

    What a marvellous invention.

    Thankyou so much

Maybe i'll put a touch of ginger in to give it some kick. Tastebuds and all that. Yes, i will.

:T:T Such a wonderful post ani...sounds like you enjoyed your day of cooking....it is very good for the soul although not sure about ginger in cbh...LOL

Shame about the yorkshire puds, though :D

You can do dumplings though and taste just amazing done in sc.:D

I use mine to do whole chickens with garlic and always have worcestershire sauce in a stew for extra zing:). Gammon hock/joint is just divine...

There is something extra special about the smell of a home made stew warming through the house though...hmmm after all this reading I might have to do a sausage & onion for tomorrow .

Miggy if you have the recipe for rice pud I`d quite like to try that...never tried puddings in mine.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend planned.

Just got back freezing cold, soaked to the skin, totally demoralised because i can't function after 2 hours, and to a letter re benefits, saying they have been reduced again by £3 a week. Not much in the grand scheme of things, you might say, but i've just done a quick work out. In laymans terms, If i received full hb and ctb, and esa, i would have £284 per month for everything else. Now i have £480 per month, which leaves me with £203.56 per month, after i've paid rent and coundil tax and said arrears, because i'm not receiving said benefits. And they tell me not to worry about it? I feel totally depressed right now.

Thats not taking into account the fact there are more than 28 days in a month. Which means it's even more of a struggle. You can't live on food parcels for ever. There's so much wrong with this place, which isn't being sorted. It's all getting on top of me. I'm going for a hot bath. Sod the expense.

I hope the bath helped? No wonder you got soaked, if you're getting the weather we are having. Best place to be is indoors right now.

The reduction in benefits is the pits - how on earth do they work that one out? Stupid system.

Someone mentioned writing to your MP - I bet we could get quite a few signatures. Dear MP, We the undersigned don't like the way the system is treating our friend Ani. What are you going to do about it? Love, miggy.

Not my best ever letter maybe...

Is it corned beef ash tonight? You sure you don't want any brown sauce with that? No? Ketchup? :D Not quite as good as brown sauce but never mind.

Angie, for the rice pud - butter round inside a casserole dish or sc, add 50g / 2oz pudding rice, 25g / 1 oz sugar and a bit of ground nutmeg if you like it. SC for about 5 or 6 hours, or put in oven at 160C for about an hour.

I love chicken done in the sc as well. It's amazing how moist it stays. Mmm - Worcestershire sauce - love it!

Ani, I don't know if I'll see you around this evening - am off to work again - but I hope you've warmed up. Thinking of you. xx

Ani, hope you've warmed up with the hot bath, there's nothing quite like one when you're chilled to the bone. As Miggy says, it's the pits about the benefits reduction - I think the letter is perfectly worded Miggy - Ani, get it as an online petition and I'll sign it x

All this talk of cooking in the sc, I'm feeling quite left out not having one. Dinner round at Ani's everyone? Suggest we all take an ingedient for main and pud and see what can be whipped up - oh and don't forget the EG too. :)

don't know what dance you were doing last night Ani but it's been sunny here today, almost forgot what it looked like from behind all those clouds. :p

Had the bath, and had the heating on too. Sod the bill. I'm freezing. It has literally been a mud bath today. Everything is covered in mud and needs washing, ( more money,) and every item of clothing i was wearing was soaked.

Apart from that, i now know how to build a wsw aka dsw. Veerry interesting, and much more to it then you could imagine. I had to leave early, after 5 hours, that was me done, ( i was tired afer 2 hours.) It serves to make me realise there's no way i could return to work at the moment. I just fall asleep, i'm exhausted. It's not me at all, although i guess most people in my state wouldn't have made it out of the front door in the first place.

Had the ash, still one more portion left for tomorrow. In typical fashion, it's a nice evening, now.

I did ask who my local mp is today, but got quite negative feedback about them. I don't see an mp is going to give one iota about one constituent.

Why do these letters always arrive on a saturday? Just another week of letters, arguments, tears, and so it goes on. Another trip to the council with today's letter, and more petrol i can't afford. I've worked out on the calendar tonight my benefits should be increasing, not decreasing, but then i'm also guessing they will still take it back from me. I can't decide whether to just stop paying rent full stop, and let them evict me, as i'm paying rent, which i shouldn't be, and which i'm sure they will never reimburse me, should the case arrive, ( which it surely should?)

Also received a letter about charities and social things in the area, cheap meals etc, but looking at them, how can i afford £2.50 for a three course meal? I'll have to rejig / repost my soa as i need all the info next week.

I'm so sorry, i'm so tired to reply individually tonight, but thanks for your replies. x

Rejigged. Does that leave me £22 a month for everything else? Isn't it about time someone started charging for breathing? Do you know, i can't take much more of this. Do i go back to work? At least i still have a job. Oh god, i can't. I can't take much more of this. People keep saying they are stuggling too. Surely not to this extent? It must be me. I don't know exactly how much my council tax arrears is. I'm sure it must be more than the figure they've given me, based on my benefits. Its imperative it all goes in the dro.
