    Hello NH/Ani/DC (now I'm confused),

Hopefully you are sound asleep as I should be myself but working nights isn't helping my sleep pattern. Sometimes when I am sorting out the laundry at 4 am I think of you and wonder what time you are getting up that day.

Pushing water uphill... what an image! But someone once told me that wells are often located at the top of a hill, for what that's worth. I expect it's something to do with porous strata in the rocks, but I'm open to correction. Obviously all those people who've pushed water uphill in years gone by eventually got there. ;)

Reading everyone's posts just now, what comes home to me is that you are fighting a mighty battle but in order to win, you have to change something. As it is, you advance but then you get pushed back. I'm assuming your work wasn't always like this, or how would you have coped in the past? What changed? Is it a sign of the times? Has your line of work become scarcer (but if so, how come you are able to work these hours)?

Will you be looking for accommodation nearer the 'big L' - that would save time and running costs if much of your work is there. And something I have a feeling you've dealt with earlier in this thread but I don't now where, sorry - have you considered cutting the hours in your main career and working any local job you can get in order to have a steady income and a bit of rest? Or do you need to keep up the contacts in your job? (Edit: reading this back - please don't feel I'm not valuing your skills and the fact you've built up a client base and they value what you do. I'm just trying to find a way to give you a break. I wouldn't want you to lose touch with your career and expertise).

Just a few thoughts... there will be an answer somewhere, meanwhile keep plodding. :)

Oh, and Maty - hope the cold clears up soon. You didn't get NH's/Ani's/DC's dread lurgy, did you?

Beanie - {{hugs}} - sounds as though you need rest too. And you're far from useless - how can anyone so caring be useless?

Huh, looking at this makes me realise i really have lost all sense of identity, who am i? In truth, i'm still Nohope. I'm struggling so much at the moment.

Just checked my bank account, enough to pay the rest of the rent and the bill tomorrow, but leaves me with nothing again. I just live from bill to bill with small deposits into my bank account.

Up at 4 am again tomorrow, miggy. I will think of you too, and have a cup of earl grey for you. xx

I'm not having a go at you Aesop, i just feel my situation is so hopeless, and the system forgets or does'nt care about people like me who have made the system what it is.

    What to do eh?

I know you are not having a go at me. We have discussed your situation before, and you fall into that grey area where you don't qualify for this that and the other, as you do not neatly fall into a suitable box.

Nearly time for bed, i'm wrecked. Motion sickness is kicking in, big style now, and although i enjoy it, i need the ground to stop moving. Why does the money always come in a day or two after the rent is due? Never mind, rent paid for another month, all major car expenses paid , ( i should'nt tempt fate ), ani taxed and mot'd until january, thank god. Just the electrics and roof need repairing, at some stage, huh.

Got my fiddle back today. Can't afford to keep buying it over, anymore, but then, i have'nt had the money to get it back. How i hate the pawn shop. How could i stoop so low? But then, desperate times, call for desperate measures. You always have to queue. I'm not the only one. Only when i've got the rest of my items back, can i truly say, i'm debt free. Then, i don't ever want to go back there.

I know its not my mismanagement of my money, because i know others at work, are still in the same position as me. Is that any comfort? I suppose to some extent, it is, and therefore it must be indicative of the work structure, and not a failing in my mismanagement of my finances, any longer.

Also got home from work in time to ring hmrc. Thats the next ' debt ' to be paid. I'll leave it until next week. They say they are sending a letter out next week, ( why do they always say that)? as they are bringing the end of their year in line with the end of the tax year. Got me there. I'm bemused. Urgh, oh , to be employed. I need a degree in accountancy, too. Never mind, the ' hit ' is'nt as bad as i thought it was going to be. £100 will bring me completely up to date with ni ,( it better had ), then i can start re applying for wtc, housing benefit, or whatever.

Which brings me to.........the conclusion i just can't survive without wtc or housing benefit. I can't continue working 100 hours a week, ( alrhough i always, probably have). This is no way to live. No life. So, if neccessary, logically, i should reduce my hours, if it means obtaining help? Or i could give up work completely, and wait for them to give me housing. But i'm at the bottom of the priority pile. Nor have i any wish to give up the ghost on everything i've got left, namely my job, and my car, and when alls said and done, i've got my job, when jobs are difficult to come by, to say the least.

What to do? these are only temporary measures, whilst they are available. It seems all is going quiet on the work front, again. Privately renting gives me some choice over my destiny, but even then, my options are limited, as an ex bankrupt, but i know i can't afford to rent, privately. Any more than the state will provide me, with social housing, and the cardboard box, still is'nt an option to me, anymore, than its ever been. But if it comes to it, theres still option b.

Food for thought Ani. That is all I can say.

There is a lot in what you have written, but knowing how difficult your working situation is, it is hard to offer any help, other than we are here for you.

Hi Ani, I was pointed in the direction of your diary from Lucy's thread when we hadn't heard from your for a bit. I haven't read all your diary yet but from what I have, you have had a truly awful time. Not sure what any of us can say or suggest to wave a magic wand for you - but just wanted to let you know we do care about you and send you a big :grouphug:. xx
