Diets (as generated by the diet industry) can and do work IF the person following the plan is prepared to do as we at Slimming World tell them "change the way you shop, cook and eat, for ever". It has worked for several people I know, one of whom lost in excess of 5 stone, four years ago and has maintained her weight ever since. Do these (and thousands like them) not count since they don't fit the profile of dieters that you know.

Three quarters of Britons are overweight - or approximately 45,000,000. You are trumpeting the successes of X,000.

If my failures outweighed my successes by a thousand to one (or in other words I had a 0.1% success rate), then I would see myself as an abject failure.

But if I had a success rate that high, of course I'd blame the person who'd "failed". If anyone doubted my abilities - the money might stop flowing in.
I'm afraid I don't understand the reference to astrology, were you being sarcastic?

People say that many things have helped them. It is only through the scientific process (measuring and counting) that you can really determine success.

  • Well done Gmeon. Unlike you I'm abit more weight for height but if I eat the womans (not the mens) guideline of 2000 calories I put weight on. I, like you find I must eat 400 to 500 less than this to lose weight. Still a bit hungry though.

Another late posting. Lost 4 ounces by Monday (darn those accurate scales!) but was at 1lb by Tuesday. Am tempted to keep the 1lb and carry it over till Tuesday. That's cheating a bit, isn't it? :o

Well done to all losers, and keep up the good work everyone - we can do it!!:T

congratulations to all that lost and good luck to everyone.

  • The best way I ever lost weight was when I used to walk to work everyday - which was 8 miles each day, the weight just flew off me!

Sadly I now work somewhere else, and the weight has gone back on :(

Good Afternoon everyone! Im hoping its ok for me to pop my head round the door and introduce myself .....

Well im restarting my diet today, Im thinking about rejoining SW (halfprice) at the moment, I was on it before but fell off the wagon on june and regained the stone i had lost since april! ...

Ive always struggled with my weight since having kids and i really want to get down a healthy size and dress size again but feel if i dont rejoin class then i will be without guidance from others, (im very weak willed) ..

Any Tips or advice would be great! xxx many thanks Kirsty
Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!
  • Hello everyone. I managed another 1 lb this week. I've been going a lot easier on myself this week and haven't been so hungry. It's a lot slower process this way but much more bearable. Had to put an extra hole in the trouser belt this week and even thats a bit loose. Good luck everyone till next week. Bye for now.
  • I seem to be on my own in here. Never mind. Iv'e lost another pound, much to my surprise. Iv'e been eating this last week so I thought that i'd be lucky to stay the same, never mind losing some. oh well here goes another week. Bye everybody!??

You should always be eating regular meals to keep the metabolism up (preferably 5 or 6 smaller meals during the day rather than just 2 or 3 larger meals).
