  • My OH had to change her diet in May this year because she had high blood pressure for a few years, even though she is in her thirtys. Doc did'nt want too put her on tablets, so saw dietician at hospital and all she had to do was go on a low fat low salt diet. This might sound simple but she has shed stones. It's kindda weird because she has been on diets before and not worked. It is a case off YOU are what you EAT. I go kyaking and cycling and the OH does minimull excercise and still lost lots of weight!!!!
If i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.
  • IMO most diets don't work because they concentrate on what you eat, not how much.

I lost weight by reducing meal sizes (by half actually) until I reached my ideal weight. Then I gradually increased the amounts again, but made sure not to over-eat like I had done before.

Everyone has to manage their relationship with food. There is a certain amount that will maintain your weight & not increase it. The hard bit is figuring out what that amount is & making sure you don't go over (or under!)

    May I join in?
I've got about 12lbs. to lose but will weigh myself tomorrow just to be sure! I keep losing this last 12lbs and then putting it back on again. I've tried WW and online clubs but I think I need to do it for myself if I'm going to keep it off for good.
Thanks for the motivation to do something about it.

Hi gmeon and welcome, I'm sure gilly 41 won't mind at all. It's great that there are lots of us up for the challenge as we can keep each other motivated. Good luck.

  • Can I join you all?

I think I need to lose a lot more than you guys but the moral support would be great. Ideally I need to lose about 7 stone but I'll take it day by day and see how I go!

I moved away from friends and family with the OH and need some support from others trying to lose weight. It doesn't help when the OH is over 6foot tall, only weighs 12st and eats like a horse.

Tried Slimming World but found it scary and as I was going on my own didn't keep it up!

Hi Claire, welcome on board. I like yourself have a lot to loose and after this initial "loose a stone for xmas" challenge I intend to go on and tackle the rest and by next christmas be able to wear the half of my wardrobe which has just sat there for the last several years.
