Thank you Metranil Vavin, they look lovely - at last I've got a starting point. I've been looking on the web but brain just wouldn't function and hearing that you have similar in situ already, and are happy with it, really helps me visulise it. Sincere thanks.

Be careful of blues in a North facing room as the light is cool so it can make the room feel chilly. Going dark in a North facing room is good but if not pick colours with a yellow base as they will appear lighter and warmer. Try googling paint colours for North facing rooms...some nice advice comes up.

im not sure how to post photos so will try and describe a mirror that i would like some advice on re colour choice. it is quite a large oval mirror, appears to be from the 30's. there is a deep domed frame which i intend to paint a nice pale colour but not sure what to do about the rope style borders on both edges of the frame.

    sorry about the description.

im not sure whether to do the rope borders in 2 different toning colours or just one toning colour. I fancy cream tone for the main frame but just can't decide on the borders. i don't want to use grey tones so am a bit lost about what else to use.

would anyone like to make a suggestion?

Yep, I was going to say the same. I would also go along the lines of beige/browns with a white ceiling. B&Q do really good colour charts (Valspar range). I don't like their paint, but we took the colour along to Homebase, so they could scan and mix for us.

I've never heard of tempered glass, uknurse. I can see I'll have to do my homework online while I'm doing my projects. ;)
    M :)

It's the same as toughened glass. Just tell the company what you intend using it for. In fact, it was the first thing, ours asked:)

Metranail That bedding is so you (going on pics you posted) I LOVE it!

I've recently used little green paint company and its fab. Well worth the extra money as it covers so well and the texture/finish is gorgeous. I'm really pleased with it. The back of my house is North facing and in the kitchen I have an off white and a pale lime green (but a yellow based one), in the upstairs rooms I've gone neutral with dulux natural hessian.

Thanks :D It'll either look lovely or hideous! ;)

I went out and bought a tester pot of Annie Sloan Antibes green yesterday. OH said I'm the only person he knows who buys a paint colour and then looks for something to paint with it! :rotfl:

It's a bit bright so I was struggling to decide what to try it on. I may paint DS's chest of drawers in it, but not 100% as it is so vivid and whilst he may love it at 4, he may hate it at 7!

So I had a go with it on the wooden frame of our kitchen chalkboard, and I love the colour! It's a very happy green :D

You could paint wooden Xmas decorations with the green. Or any baskets you have (I have some bright orange wood coloured ones I'm going to try painting white). How about the handles of wooden spoons too?

ooh yes, wooden spoon handles is a great idea!

In the shop I get my paint from, they actually have a pot of wooden spoons each painted in a different AS colour to give an idea of the colour! Do you think the paint would wear off with washing up?
