are they varnished pine (no bother) or natural wood waxed -which needs stain blocking primer over the knots.
Today I finished waxing a chalk painted dressing table that had 3 panels left undone from weeks ago. I just dragged it in to the bedroom and put it on my to do list! The bliss of being able to cross off one thing

Did some upcycling.
Mr F found a pair of Diesel jeans when he was out walking our dog.
Someone had dumped them with a piece cut out of the leg part. I washed and
pressed them then cut them up.
Finished making a raggy rag bag - used the jeans.
The largest piece of fabric needed to make the bag is 9 inch square. Didn't
have quite enough fabric so put lining material in the top side gusset. Took
the finished bag outside to brush the raggy rag edges - makes lots of mess.
Size of bag is - 16 x 14 x 4 1/2 inches. This is a Christmas present for
DDIL.
I am going to make myself one of these bags for when I visit a show - nice
size to carry and the straps are long enough for on shoulder.
I used vintage trims and buttons to embellish the bag.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Wow that is fab. No, my chairs aren't stained they were a matt varnish but mostly come off - glad you think should be okay.
Have also just received two lovely ceramic knobs in the post today purchased from ebay - they have lovely little red flowers on them. For DDs little bedroom table - I must paint them in cream. Half-term coming up so will definitely do that and a couple of chairs at least then. Exciting :jOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

If the varnish is coming off the chairs but basically stable for what's still on, I would paint on one coat which is 99% likely to not have knot colour bleed come through - there's something in varnish which usually cures knots. But if there was a faint brown stain after a few hours, you can put Blackfriars problem solving primer on top of the chalk paint stains, then chalk paint over it the next day.0

Thanks. I will definitely give it a go. Nice to hear there are solutions to any potential problems.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10
