Compared to your old shoe storage cupboard, does the set of drawers hold more, less or the same amount of shoes?

Having seen your piccies, it's got me thinking maybe drawers would solve my shoe storage problem. I have been looking at bedding boxes, but don't like the idea of the shoes then just being chucked in, whereas in a drawer they could be placed in, in a pair.

It actually holds MORE as there are more 'shelves'. No wasted height space on each shelf as was the case before :)

I have not been painting but finished some sewing - does it count as shabby chic?

Absolutely NO wasted space. All the shoes are on their side in pairs. The men's shoes fit EXACTLY the depth so not a teeny bit of surplus room going to waste :)

(Please ignore the muck n grime. I let hubster and sprogs clean their own shoes!!!)

Thanks for the replies and the piccie. I am definately on the hunt now for drawers, and when they are finished, I might let DH store some of his shoes too :rotfl:

Have just found some homemade chalk paint recipes. Apparently latex paint is emulsion. I'm going to try the calcium carbonate one over Easter. Will post pics. :).

the recipe I'm using at the moment is 3 x Dulux matt emulsion, 1 x plaster of paris and slightly less than 1 of warmish water. I find this really easy to paint on (on big flat surfaces)and no pilling, but I need to do many coats to get enough coverage from dark to white.
