Wilson the Volleyball is one of Hollywood's most loved volleyballs. His glittering career started when he became the only companion of Tom Hanks' Chuck Noland in Cast Away. Many say this is Wilson's best performance and he couldn't have given a better effort.

Love the latest upcyle - Jumblejack.
I have just washed a bag of vintage linens - napkins, dressing table sets etc. Have to think what I can make with them. There are some marks which haven't come out in the wash but lots of usable bits.

I asked a week or so ago about waxing on top of home made chalk paint. I have painted my chest of drawers but haven't got the bees wax yet. I do have a tin of non silicone furniture wax. Lavender smell and colour. Would this do the job??

I need to use some stuff up if I can. The paint went on well, I did 4 coats, is that usual?
    Keep on trucking!

I've used furniture wax in the past and it was fine. It will still fuse with the paint as beeswax does.

I find that with home made CP, less so with AS CP. I did 4 coats of primer yesterday on some wood because it wouldn't cover, boring! The expensive primers that knot seal have like 5 times more pigment in them.

    Hi JJ

Another stunning transformation! Do you sell your stuff? If not, you must have a HUGE house!!:D

I do little bits and bobs but I'm going to transform our summer house this year. At the moment it is plain and functional and I want DRAMATIC:rotfl: Will try and post pictures. Keep up the good work everyone.

I'm trying to start selling but local folk just don't pay much. For instance the dressing table has had an offer of £30!!!! I know I'm doing it to practice techniques, but really! Considering the original purchase price of the furniture, the paint, the wax, the fabric, the hours spent restoring it, pfft!

I don't know how folk make much money doing it. It's more done for enjoyment than financial benefits which are meagre. :)

I live in a pretty impoverished part of the country so I guess that's it?

    Hi!

I am a frequent lurker on this thread, have never posted before though!

I am attempting to revive an old rocking chair at the minute, I sugar soaped it down, then mixed up my own chalk paint (3 parts paint, 1 part plaster of paris & some water) but the chalk paint has gone really lumpy/bitty. Should I have mixed the plaster of paris with water first to make it into a paste then added it to the paint?! Can my chair be saved if I lightly sand back the lumpy bits and mix up some new paint?

Yes! You have realised your mistake. :). Thoroughly dissolve the plaster of Paris with hot water before adding the paint.

You need to keep stirring the chalk paint whilst it is in use too as the heavier particles will settle at the bottom and potentially form gritty clumps. It sands smooth well though so no need to despair :)

Rocking chairs always look amazing when renovated!!
