that Wickes paint looks promising, but I've never used it. I think several rather than just one coat of varnish like Flo said is a good idea.
Put some pics up when your done :)

Thank you-have given it one undercoat this morning.

In all the years I've been a member of this site I have never posted a photo-or knew how to!! I'm not very technical at all-in fact that is an understatement, I am a techno phobic!

Has this turned out? I can't get the photo the right way, maybe that's the next thing to learn?

Wow I sort of did it!
    Sorry it's so massive!

I couldn't see a rotate button anywhere to turn it round?

How do I actually get the photo up on here now, and not the URL?

Anyway, the rocker has now had an all over undercoat. It's in the spare room of the house daughter is buying and we are doing up with daughter & her OH, hence the mess around it.

Will go up later for another undercoat & in morning, luckily it's only about 1/2 a mile fro me.

    Gorgeous rocker!!!

    Well done, toozie!

    I'm feeling soooooo excited.
I'm upcycling an Art Deco drinks cabinet for keeps (if I can persuade hubster. He thinks I'm selling it!)

    It's coming along a treat

I've made my own French grey chalk paint by colour blending until it looked right then made up the chalk paint recipe in the usual ratios.

    It's stupendously scrumptious!!!

Can't wait for tomorrow when I can wax and put the toile paper in :)

    Woohoooooo

actually there might be better instructions somewhere on MSE written by staff :D

The thing about imageshack is there is a feature for rotating images to get them up the right way. Though it can take several attempts for me to get it right! Also not techie.

Finished rocker - paid £10 on Gumbush.
So comfy - I will enjoy sitting here knitting/doing crochet or sewing.

That is absolutely beautiful. I love it

I have now given my rocker 2 coats of undercoat, I am a bit slow at this sort of stuff!!
Is that painted with chalk paint? Can't quite see-is it distressed?

I need something quite hard wearing on mine I think, will be in use every day.

I used HM chalk paint - mix of grey emulsion from Wilkos + water + POP.
I sanded/distressed and then painted with Wilkos varnish.
