For lots of photos in the style you like just go on google, click images and type in 'shabby french chic' or whatever style you like and then if you click on the photos they sometimes take you to blogs, online magazines etc. I can while away hours doing this, with shabby chic, crochet etc

I am in a new house, blank canvas. Its all magnolia and white paint.!
White bathroom tiles, and bath panel.
Light beige units in the kitchen. (All new as Housing Association standard fit).
I have had to fit Beige carpets through out for speed and for cost. So appart from the front room new striped carpet that if something I chose as I liked it.......
All my furniture is second hand to start with. (Very MSE of me, when I had to start life again after bankruptcy).
Now though I hope to make this place my home.
Off to surf the net again.!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I have painted my dresser :j:j it has only taken me about 6 weeks lol, I have been very busy with other stuff! Anyway, I have used the F&B paint, I still need to said it and shabby it, now what I need adviced on is do I paint or use anything on top of the paint to protect it? i.e. stop it from chipping and getting dirty?

im actually thinking about buying a couple of pieces and shabbying them up and trying to sell them on, see how they go!
I have 2 pieces already in my home that i could use. A very solid and chunky 3 drawer chest and a lovely odd occasional table.

:wave: Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd ask advice from you knowledgeable people;)
We're planning on some decorating in the new year. A few rooms are looking tired and I fancy a change rather than just freshen them up with more of the same. That's largely the 'royal' we as OH will be doing most of work and I'll be advising! I like the shabby chic/country house/ Old French sort of style. I won't be completely idle and will do any soft furnishings etc that are needed.
What I wanted to ask is if any of you know of threads on here that are about decorating/interior design ideas and/or sites/blogs/magazines or whatever that you use yourselves for inspiration?

This is a link to my blog, I've not got anything re rooms on mine, but if you look on my favourite blog lists on the right hand side, there are quite a few really nice shabby chic blogs and again their blog lists lead you on to others, of course at the moment most of them are done up with christmas stuff. I also google for inspiration, if you put shabby chic in to images or even narrow that down to a room you will get some good ideas from there as well. Ooo guess what i got for Christmas......Cath Kidston dinner plates, side plates and bowls!! Woop woop thank you mummy and daddy!! Was going to buy a white dinner set to go with them as 4 of everything but now thinking i just want more CK to mix and match.....what do you reckon!?

If you need something basic quickly (while you add to your CK range) nattyt, I saw a Jamie Oliver set in Asda which I'd buy myself if I didn't have cupboards full that I rarely use:o It's £20 and sort of off-white with a blue stripe around it.0 -

Cath Kidston website has a sale on. The cherry range are reduced. Noticed yesterday, was tempted, but I have to clear out the clutter first and then decide.
