Depends where the door frame is, if it leads into the hall or another room with white woodwork then stick with it, if not and it's all on its own then any thing you like. Gloss, satin or varnished emulsion will do the trick.
I do like white gloss/satin. It's durable and scrubs up well. I've just glossed the three door frames in my kitchen and hoping and praying the cats steer clear until its dry.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I would really only use chalk paint on waxed pine. I'm not a huge fan. I prefer emulsion as it goes on a lot smoother and doesn't appear brush-strokey when waxed. Chalk paint is relatively new on the painting scene and I am old school!
I want all my shelving for the craft room to look alike. At the moment I have 3 dark beige units plus three medium wood effect ones.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

You could use chalk paint if you like working with it. You could also use a specific melamine paint which would give you a much flatter look and won't need any further protection. I take it they are melamine? Or you could use a super-primer and an eggshell but I think a melamine paint would be easiest as it's a one step process.:)0 -

Well I spent today turning a boring brown shed
Into a pretty blue one
It looks really bright in the pic but its not as bright in real life.0 -
love the works everyone and the pics, inspiring
to get the pic to come out in your post instead of on a link, you insert it in a forum image box, which appears when you go into reply message. It's the 4th from the right of the icons just above the whiteness of the reply area. It says insert image if you hover the mouse over it. When you click on it you can insert your imageshack url, but like EmmaK said, delete the writing already in it (http://) as you'll have it in your paste & copy already.
ps 2nd from right on quick reply box
I'm trying to do my first crackleglaze with pva on a wooden candlestick, yawn paint drying time :rotfl:0 -
Thanks chalkysoil, I'm on my phone so I just use the quick reply box at the bottom of the page and don't really pay much attention to all the icons lol xx0

I posted a before pic. I couldn't get the after pic on the post. I tied again. It refused to let me post a pic at all !! I deleted my posting efforts.
it did work, kind of, except I was too impatient as ever and didn't let the pva go tacky enough.
