fab chalkysoil as always. How did you do this and what are you going to do with them all, storage?
I copied the instructions from Emma Kate's blog only I used different paint. It's basically make a bowl of watery paint in greyish white and dunk and brush. The small things were really easy and quick as they fitted in the flexi tub.
I had most of them crammed with junk already, which I've been trying to re stash today, like picture frames with potential etc. I'm going to try two on top of the wardrobe as it's a fairly low height one and keep spare blankets or something in them. The airing cupboard is bursting.
I just had a fun time, not - trying to open a small jar of 1829 paint. I'd used it a couple of times before but it was still nearly full. And no way would the lid turn. Had to smash a hole in the middle of the plastic lid to get at the stuff!! Luckily it had a cardboard liner so the plastic didn't fall in the paint.0 -

I think Emile is a lovely shade, I've used it on a chair under French Linen, I then distressed the French Linen so that Emile shows through, and I love it!
As for the chair for your bathroom, how about Old Ochre, which is a sort of 'old' cream colour, not too yellow like AS Cream can be, or maybe Country Grey.
You could always go for something completely different as a contrast, Emperors Silk, with dark wax over clear wax could look stunning.
I'll try to find a pic of the chair I did.......
hi ok i will have a look at old ochre thank you, hes not brought them home yet so i still havent seen them0 -
I gave the Chair a base coat of AS Emile, followed by French Linen which was lightly distressed in places to reveal Emile. I had to completely re-upholster the seat, new webbing, wool felt, foam, hessian etc, I then covered it with a Linen fabric from Nina Campbell called 'Zembla'
thats a lovely chair well done0 -

I have used napkins to decoupage, and I use ordinary PVA too, napkins have been used on the jug and the Ikea stool on the Pinterest link

Thank you, I bought two jugs from an auction, this is the one on the right. They were both a bit battered with some rust, the flowery part was paper which I soaked off. I painted it with AS Duck Egg then gave it a coat of matt varnish before decoupaging the cut-up napkins with PVA. I then gave several more coats of matt varnish and finished with touches of antique gold Rub n Buff.
The other one in the photo has so far been painted with Autentico Pink, but is still awaiting more decoration...... there are never enough hours in the day!
I love your little hearts and am going to steal that idea for when I eventually get around to all the sewing I have planned :rotfl:0 -
Hello, I hope you don't mind me gatecrashing and asking some advice from all you very talented shabby chic-ers...
We are moving soon and need a rectangular dining table to fit in our new kitchen diner, rather than the circular one we currently have. We have a limited budget but I am very creative and would like to attempt my first furniture project. I have seen a lovely shape table and 6 chairs in a charity shop locally for £50, but it is a very dark, almost mahogany colour with a very 'shiny' lacquer or varnish to it. Would it be possible to sand this off or am I expecting miracles? As we don't have a lot of spare cash, does anyone have a rough idea of how much paint and supplies etc of a job this size would cost?
Thanks so much!0
