which order do i wax and decoupage/decopatch
do i
paint with AS, then decoupage, then wax
or
paint with AS, wax, then decoupage
I think this is what my dd wants to do now so going off to look for napkins but i want to be prepared for the order of painting etc. mind you weve not got the paint yet
she quite likes AS old white or original, rather than pure white
has anyone used old white either whats the difference please?
Generally you don't use wax in decoupage. If you use it your papers won't stick very well on top. I think paint, decoupage and varnish rather than wax as this will seal the paper far better than wax can.
Old white is lovely.0 -
my aunt gave us quite a bit of this lace fabric a while ago and my little girl has asked about maybe using some of it as a runner/mat on her new dressing table.
sorry photo has turned itsself around for some reason - fabric
dressing table (thats not our room hers is against a lavender wall) also we need to recover the seat on the stool as it doesnt match her room
but it only has one patterned edge and its flimsy what do you think?0 -

That quilt is lovely hmo, I wish I had better sewing skills. I have a pile of fat quarters my sister bought me from the US waiting to be made into some hanging hearts or maybe birds.
Well I picked up my latest project today from a charity shop for £3

I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with it or where I'm going to put it when it's done but for the price I just couldn't resist it0 -

I have a similar cabinet that I chalk painted ... but never finished it and it's on the floor in the queue of things to do!
I tinted this plain glass vase blue today. Later did an amethyst coloured one but it looks all blotchy.
Had seen the idea, and was prompted to try by finding those two colours in B&M @ 35P each.0 -
A quick crochet question I've just watched a video for a simple crochet heart I followed it and my heart is about 1.5x 1.5
It was something like ch4 then do 3 x triple, then 3 x double
Think my hook is about 4or5 don't know what wool is could be double or 4 ply its just a ball I picked up in the works a but ago
If I won't to make the heart bigger do I start with a bigger chain?
Do I still do 3 x triple etc or would I ave to alter that bit too or
Do I just do the same but on a bigger hook0 -
I would use the yarn double (to make it twice as thick) and use a larger crochet hook (if yarn is dk then doubled it becomes chunky, use 5mm crochet hook, number 6)0

Today I found some picture frames for 50p and as I have been asked to make a 'new baby thingy', thought that I could spray them and then use wooden letters from E bay to decorate. The letters are really cheap but to be honest I bought them far too large. I think it cost me £3 with postage for these. Anyway I sprayed the frames. The letters; I drew round them on pretty paper, cut out then used an emery board to neaten them once glued to the wooden bits. I also put a bit of this gunky stuff called anitas glossy finish on them then used a glue gun for the first time to attach them to the frames. This cost me about £4 for each one. They are really nice.0
