    Hi all,

A rather random question for you all...

We've recently moved into a house with a lovely big kitchen - nice wooden cupboards, cream rangemaster etc etc. Now, I need a way to store vegetables like potatoes, onions etc. In the old house they just sat in their bags beside the dishwasher but there's no space to do that here and I wouldn't want to anyway in my nice new kitchen! :D

So, do any of you have any kind of shabby chic way of storing your veg?

    Cheers,

    Kevin

my potatoes live in an old navy PE bag & other veg in canvas/linen/cotton bags hung up behind the door - more shabby than chic, I suppose :D.

I have a couple of Ercol chairs which I want to do up. I thought one might look nice in Deco Patch. I have looked on ebay and the stuff is quite expensive. Could I use alternative to the real thing or would it be a mess. Not sure how many sheets I would need but it is a pound a sheet and they are a bit less than a4 size, I think.

Is deco patch the same as decoupage? Lots of ladies on here do decoupage with printed paper napkins with stunning results. But Ercol chairs are quite sought after and valuable aren't they? Be sure you're not de-valuing them!

i store mine in one of the salad boxs in my fridge, but how about something like this

i have one of these in my holiday let with plates and big bowls on but you could put baskets in it with the veg etc plus its extra bit of worktop may come in handy if you need more space.

Thanks for all the suggestions... There's no room in there for another unit, but one of those cream metal stands looks perfect! Now, to find the money for it... :D

decoupage is the original i think been round donkeys years, deco patch is a more modern name/technique i think.

the deco patch papers can be expensive my dd and i did one years ago when she was about 4 we did a star which still hangs in our craft/sewing room but its used on furniture now too.

i am sure i read on the net recently probably pinterest that people use wrapping paper as its cheaper for furniture

Not sure about alternatives, but I once knew a lady on another forum who deco patched two of her cars! They looked brilliant, very unique... It's tough stuff!

With regards to the Ercol chairs, you might have a good point about the value of them, maybe it would devalue it too much. I just had a lightbulb moment!!! I have a couple of old chairs at my allotment, so might give it a go on one of those first (I might just forget about the Ercol ones, altogether)
I thought Decoupage was layering the same pictures to get a 3D effect. What I want to do is rip up the paper into ramdom shapes and paste it on, varnishing the whole item, when all covered.
I have a little wooden pencil box, I might give it a go with some cheap wrapping paper, as a later poster suggested.
I'm full of ideas but don't always get around to doing them, I like to dream........
    Keep on trucking!
