So you take off the door and put the panelling on one side - do you have to leave it to dry before doing the other side?

No, I just flip it over as it's held in place by the panel pins. Wood glue dries fairly fast.

    After:

This was 1 tin of F&B sample paint and 3 tins of water, mixed in an old washing up bowl. (Had to paint the inside of the pantry door too!)
    Looks great.

I was surprised that you said to use gloss paint - I thought the trend for shabby chic was eggshell.

good idea about putting a hook on the inside of the draw or cupboard didnt think of that i like command hooks they seem to be the only one that stays in place so will have to try and pick some of those up too.

    thanks

noticed today in Sainsburys that all the Command hooks are on offer - sorry, didn't take note of individual prices though!

Eggshell marks a lot more easily than gloss! I use waterbased satin eggshell on the backs of some doors if they stay open and don't get natural sunlight on them, as gloss will go yellow fast without sunlight on it.

Thanks for the help - this is probably a really silly question - do you rehang the doors before painting them?
I had some tile samples arrive today. I love the ones I chose for the kitchen walls and the bathroom/cloakroom floors. I wasn't happy with the bathroom wall ones and not sure about the kitchen floor tiles. I have more samples on the way. All these decisions.

Yes I paint them when they're back in place. I sometimes do the caulking when the door is hung too.
I hate making decisions! That's the hardest part!

ok i have a dumb question about hanging knic knaks all the furniture in my house is solid wood light oak and all with the same style handles as you can see here on my kitchen cabinets

    6.jpg

the sideboard and dresser in the kitchen have the same style handles and so do my bathroom cabinets, so as you can see by the style i dont have anything to hang anything off, hope that makes sense.

so how can add add pretty shabby hearts, decoration etc you all seem to have knobs on your furniture that you can hang stuff off.

any ideas i dont really want to be screwing cup hooks into the furniture how do you get round this problem if you have the same style handles?

    thanks

I don't have handles as such on my units so I hung my hanging hearts from the top of the side of the unit and secured out of sight from the top.

I've just found a pic of them on the reflection in my mirror here:

    http://pinterest.com/pin/425168021041779824/

You can see part of my kitchen in the mirrors reflection with the vertically hanging string of hearts from the edge of a wall unit.

They are fixed in place on the top of the unit and can be fixed with pads if you don't want to use a tack. :)
