    if you put
    wax
into search this thread at the top of the page then you'll get loads of info.
You could also search on authentico, annie sloane, AS and ASCP.

Look forward to seeing pics of your projects!

haroldboy - if it looks ok, it is ok! Personally my waxing comes out as more of a sheen than glassy, but then my paint is usually very rustic looking, brush marks etc. I haven't used autentico paint yet, it may be finer than ASCP. I use AS clear wax, lots of people use other waxes.
If you don't like it, repaint and rewax, I've done that on things I've put too much dark wax on.
Maybe you buffed with great vigour??!!!! I just swirl the tshirt around for a few minutes, nothing drastic being of a lazy nature myself.

ps, where are you ? loads of us are in Kent it seems ! If you were I could tell you where to look in shops for hand waxed refurb furniture.
  • Hello...thank you both for your replies....yes I must've rubbed the wax with too much vigour!!...my 9 year old and 3 year old driving me nuts!!! Will take up the suggestions and do some searching in child free evenings! It just seemed weird seeing the furniture as though it had been spray painted?! Do you need to wax for a second time? I live in West Sussex. That is a thought to start all over again but the lazy side of me may say that it's fine! Thanks again....

no, you don't need to wax again, although a shop I go to always does, he says.
I don't, I might do in a year or two on some pieces though. I think maybe because you sanded it has made it smooth and shiny too. I'm really lazy with sandpaper and only knock off blobs or pilling.
There are some youtube videos of Annie Sloan at work, probably linked to her website, and dozens of videos on blogs, reachable by pinterest or google.
Put a photo up when you've posted some more and the system lets you :)

Decided to use up over ordered ASCP and update my bedroom. Also painted the legs of the dining table to match the display cabinet I did the other day. My husband is frightened to stand still in case he gets painted too!

I think it worked out at around £30 a door but do shop around for the mouldings as prices vary! Choose the straightest and the ones with least knots.
You so do not need a handy man! Just draw the panels on your doors, working out from the centre line and check you'll be happy with that layout. Then lay your moulding on your pencil line, mark the cuts and the direction of the angles. Cut with a little adjustable mitre saw. (I do one end, then remeasure for the other end.) A streak of glue and some teeny panel pins, a dampcloth to wipe off the squeezed out glue and you're ready to caulk, prime and paint.
I can send you the dimensions of the panels I used if you like. :)
I SO do need a handyman - Mr F is not Diy at all. I can sew, knit, crochet, papercraft but not carpentry.

    Ouch!
Have you had yourself checked over?
    Wishing you a speedy recovery.

This weekend I have upcycled a little cupboard but haven't yet done the 'after' picture.

Not a big project. It was done in half a day.

In between and after though, I also crocheted ANOTHER bag.
I wanted one in the colours of my funky woolly leggings as no bags match them.

    This is it:

Ill post the cupboard pics ASAP. Just waiting for it to get bright and sunny to enable a proper picture. :)
    Just gorgeous.

Just to let you know that, following my fall downstairs, I have, surprisingly, woken up today with not too many aches and pains. I will take it easy for a few days though, just in case. Thanks for your concern and best wishes. x
Like Mr F - he fell downstairs and got up to tell the tale. Hope you are okay now.
