It's a grubby old sewing table.
    It looks very different now...

It's Canadian milk paint again (my favourite thing to do with dark wood) and new lining with linen. This is a sneak preview!

I love the linen lining Emma Kate, I'm still deciding what to line the canter lever sewing box with that I'm upcycling.

I've done a tutorial on lining mine but I'm not publishing it til wed I think. I don't think this padded lining would work on yours as you'll be needing the full depth of the trays for your reels of thread I think. Paper might be better? Decoupage?

Yeah I was considering paper, I have quite a stash of scrapbook papers :), this being my first project I'm unsure of what glue to use to though.

If you're going to do little ripped pieces I'd use pva, but if you're going to use a whole sheet per side then a spray adhesive will give you a smoother look. Pva tends to wrinkle the paper and cause air bubbles...you can smooth them out on teeny pieces but not so easy on a whole sheet!

Thanks for the advice Emma Kate :)
  • Hello, this is my first posting to the site...sorry if this is a very obvious question but needing some advice from the experts! Have just been practising using Autentico chalk paint on a bargain stool. After painting, sanding, painting, sanding decided to take the plunge and apply the clear wax. After a day 'buffed' with an old t shirt...the finish is almost glass like....very shiny? Is this ok? Not having seen some actual waxed painted furniture I wasn't sure if ok....what is the usual advice for waxing? I've waxed some of the pine doors in the house but being fiddes coloured wax they seem different? Have been lurking on the threads for some time but not found the answer yet? Thanks for any help..
