thank you. it's ascp in "original" . I did two coats on top of white primer, and on the top I also primed with stainstop as I have a feeling little stains may appear as it looks that kind of age/varnish. Although it's certainly not very old as a lot of it is made with chipboard with thickish oak veneer over it.
I've waxed the top, but the body of it I finished with clear matt varnish.0 -

My bath is 1960, as is the loo and the white tiles around the bath ( they have no grout they were just stuck close together!)
The good things are 1) I can do any mad scheme in there and not mind ( but hubs went nuts when I painted a wall purple once - he's not an aging hippy like me)
2) the loo has a super flush, the poo is out to sea in ten minutes I expect, whereas the new shiny boring upstairs loo in the bathroom we never use has to be flushed twice and then it's worrying.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Florenceem wrote: »So you think pale grey tiles would go with a cream kitchen? My original thought was no to a wood/wood effect worktop but now I am wondering. I have had two independent kitchen blokes round - so many samples of worktops - no wonder I am confused.
I love grey and cream and eventually want to paint my wood effect kitchen cupboards grey for the wall units and cream for the bottom ones.
Exciting you are all planning new kitchens and I get to live vicariously through it! *g*0 -
hmo I love your shiny floors!
thank you i love them too we have them all through the property except on the stairs and bedrooms and we have carpet.
we also have UFH all the way through which i forget about as always were my slippers in the house so on the rare occasion i walk round the bedroom or downstairs with nothing on my feet i always get a nice surprise because the floor is warm:)0 -
i think anything goes these days in my kitchen which is all oak units i also have oak worktops which at first i was unsure of as we had granite in our last house and i thought i would have that, but the oak on oak looks great i have cream wall tiles and the cream floor tiles which go all through the property, i have a built in double oven with a free standing american fridge & freezer and a free standing slimline dishwasher.
having said that all my units are free standing too they were meant to be kitchen islands but we adapted them and made them units, they are on my blog if you type kitchen in the search box it should come up.0 -

You could turn them into pretty bookmarks if you attach a long chain stitch hem. The little flowers sit at the top of the book and look scrumptious if laid flat on a bookshelf.
I made this today:
