I thought the same and then I looked up th price of decent large castors .....

Or you could go to IKEA and get a pair of these for £9. So £18 for 4.

Hi, newbie here, I've been looking at all your posts for a few weeks now and can I say you make/up cycle some fantastic pieces. For my first project into making something look shabby chic I picked up a sewing box like this http://www.sewessential.co.uk/largeimage.asp?ProductID=GB156L&ProductName=Light%20Cantilever%20Sewing%20Box. from a local charity shop and I'm hoping it turns out ok :)

So do i never thought to shabby it

I got some of these - max load 55kg - to make a moving platform for a flower trough. As soon as I put the compost in they broke! Have to admit couldn't weigh the compost so could be my fault but I'm pretty sure that three pallets would weigh quite a lot.

Just finished an old oak gate leg table, pics in the usual place. Really pleased with how it's turned out. Have done a writing bureau for DD1 in the same paint, just need to pop the handles back on and will add some photos later.

I used a paint from W ick es that's a chalk finish, it's a strange colour, almost pale duck egg on the chart but more of a grey/green in certain lights. It goes on well and I've given the table a quick coat of beeswax just to protect the paint.....will see how it holds up. The bureau will look very shabby very quickly knowing DD but that's the whole idea, a freecycle bureau made into something pretty to hide the clutter!

Myself & quite a few others locally are having problems with the Annie Sloan Clear Wax turning out very patchy...anyone use this or can recommend a better wax for over chalk paint please? Have applied lightly, more heavily, in a warmer room, with the proper wax brush, with a lint free cloth & nothing is working well! There seems to be no set advice on applying this and varies from one supplier to another...at this rate, I'm beginning to feel it would be easier to go back to primer & eggshell paint, than to continue using the chalk paint. Any help would be much appreciated :0(

the wax seems ok for me, so not sure what the answer is. I varnish some things, the texture isn't as nice but it looks fine and is miles quicker and hopefully easier to dust on my annual effort.

It's OK for me too, I do warm it slightly (on the radiator) before using it in cold weather.
