I would do another coat if you aren't going for distressed. I apply paint quite thick, which tends to give brush strokes, but otherwise use more coats of thinner paint. I can't find any pics of waxing thin paint bits in prorgress, but it sounds like it to me. The wax kind of finds thin areas as it soaks in, that weren't visible before.
I've painted over totally waxed pieces several times when I didn't like the look of dark wax I'd shovelled on, they end up with a lovely feel to them.

I varnish things that are totally fiddley, or need a damp cloth on them now and then. I can't remember it happening with varnish, but that might just be a fluke.

Chalky soil, I think its as you say the wax is finding the thinner bits. Im going to re-paint all the outside of the doors with a thicker coat. Ive waxed the carcass of the units and they look ok. How long do I have to leave the wax before I can paint with another coat of paint.

Wish I had started on something small to start!!

it may not matter about time when painting over the wax, but I'd leave it at least 24 hours myself. Or two days. I never have less than a dozen half finished projects on the go so not hard for me to move around and mess up anothe bit of the house!!

best paint the office ceiling tonight then :rotfl:

walls are really quick compared to furniture( unless you're hanging wallpaper) Well good luck.
None of my house has been painted for 6 years or more and bits really need doing badly. Door frames have gone a weird colour no relation to white anymore. It'll take me weeks to shift all the junk ou the way :D
  • Loving all the makes and projects. Today has been mostly spent knitting cushions - just finishing #2 of 8, hoping to start #3 later. I'm being spoilt rotten - the only thing I have done all weekend is make breakfast this morning - not sure why, but certainly not arguing!

Back to the brushes tomorrow, I think.
